Episode I: The Awakening of Harmony, Chapter II: The Royal Siblings

One, two, three; three loud knocks are heard throughout the big room that belongs to the prince of the crystal empire, Blaze Shine.

"Blaze?" says a soft, tender voice, a mare opens the door, only to find an empty room; she walks in and looks around, a familiar scent makes its way to her breaths, the room is filled with posters of famous pony scientists and magic researchers, a small table is covered in all types of books, from magical arts to cooking books to pegasus anatomy and, in the center of the room, the most prominent feature stands out, an empty bed with a bag beside it.

"Where are you Blaze?" whispers the mare to herself while fixing the strand of hair that, no matter how hard she tries, still finds its way over her left eye.

She exits the room, closing the door behind her and starts walking down the hallway, trying to figure out just where her brother went; "Morning, princess." says Mrs. Plum Berry, her purple coat is bright and her mane is brushed almost to perfection, she looks pretty despite her old age, "Good morning Mrs. Plum." responds the mare, shrugging a little as the strand of silver hair sneaks over her eye once more, "Oh, Mrs. Plum, have you seen Blaze Shine this morning? He wasn't in his room." explains the princess, "I'm afraid not dear." says Mrs. Plum, the princess nods understandingly, "But he was studying something in the library at night yesterday when I last saw him, perhaps he's still there." she adds, "Thank you Mrs. Plum, you really are a life saver." says the princess hugging the old mare, "Aww sweetie, whatever you need, always." she says and keeps walking to wherever she was going and the princess makes her way to the library.

Mrs. Plum has been living in the castle taking care of the two royal children since they were both babies, she watched them grow from two little foals, to a beautiful princess and a bright prince; Blaze Shine and Blizzard Drop lost their parents at a young age and the kingdom was left to the oldest heir, princess Blizzard Drop, but since she was too young to rule a kingdom by herself she did so under the tutoring of Mrs. Plum.

Nowadays she's more than capable of handling the responsibility; she was always mature, even when she didn't needed to be, since she knew that she'd one day rule the crystal empire, she knew that she needed to be ready, her brother though, he wasn't so worried about that, no, not very much at all.

The princess heads into the library and looks around for her brother and there, in a big round table at the far left corner of the room sits a young stallion, his white coat shining slightly as the morning light bathes him through the window and his blue mane falls over his back, messy as always, and the princess smiles.

"Blaze!" She says, trotting towards him, he turns around and smiles right back, hugging her when she's finally close enough, patting her back with his hoof and ruffling a hand through her silver mane.

"Good morning Blizzard." says the stallion returning his gaze back to the table, "Why are you here so early?" she asks, "Well, I was here all night." he says, "So you didn't sleep?" she asks, "Don't worry Blizz, I slept alright, fell asleep while reading actually."

"You know you have a room right?" says Blizzard, shooting him a sarcastic look, "Yes, I do, it's just I was in the middle of studying this." says Blaze, pointing his hoof to the book on the table which is about enchantments; this table, just like the one in his room, is littered with books, quills, ink and scrolls full of notes, "And what is it?" asks Blizzard, "It's a mind control spell, when used correctly, you can make another organism do anything you want," he explains excitedly "the only problem is that it only works for a really limited time, so I was trying to see if I could alter it somehow." Blizzard looks at him confused, "So you plan to go around controlling people's minds?" she asks, "Oh, no, it's just to see if it works, I mean, it might come in handy but I won't exploit it if I don't need to." he says.

Blaze is the kind of stallion all the mares would want to date, he's funny, charming, caring and smart, but he also doesn't like going out very much, since he was little, he loved reading and always preferred to stay in with good book rather than going outside to play; that doesn't mean he has no friends though.

When they were little, Blaze and Blizzard visited their cousin, Carol, each week end, but as time went on, Blizzard grew more busy and Blaze just wasn't old enough to travel on his own, so they started visiting once a month, then once a year, and then just a few times here and there sometimes and, without the visits to Canterlot, Blaze stopped seeing Crystal Flare, his best friend, but they never stopped writing to each other.

"Oh Blaze, I almost forgot why I came here in the first place." says Blizzard, "If it's about the trip to Canterlot don't think that I forgot," says Blaze "I've been planning it for months, I'm all set, I have my bag ready since yesterday and the train doesn't leave for another hour or so.", "Well, glad you could handle that." says Blizzard Drop sounding genuinely surprised, "See?" he says "I can be responsible."

"Only when you want to, that is."

"Baby steps Blizzard, baby steps."

"You might just be the only seventeen year old baby I know." she says laughing, "Very funny," he says "well, I'm still not done but I'll go take a bath and have some breakfast before I go, the mind control spell will have to wait." he closes the book, kisses Blizzard on the forehead and runs to the exiting the room quickly, despite being four years younger, Blaze is higher than Blizzard, this never seemed to bother her, she turns to see her brothers messy table once more and then goes out herself, leaving the library in a hollow silence.

Blaze makes his way down the hallways he knows by heart, running swiftly through the various paths in the castle, he quickly makes his way to his room and grabs his bag from besides his bed, taking it with him to the bathroom, he closes the door and turns the water on, he gets in the shower and closes his eyes as the cool water caresses all of his body, making him go from drowsy to fully awake in an instant.

Once out of the shower, he grabs a towel and using his magic to control it dries himself completely; he then stands in front of the mirror, his blue hair still sort of wet, he liked how his hair always had a strand of lighter blue and a, completely out of place, pink strand as well, he takes his brush from his bag and with a swift magic motion he brushes his hair to the left. Once that's done he looks at himself in the mirror once more, his purple eyes are full of sparkles and life "Looking good Blaze Shine, looking real good." he says to himself smirking.

Once out of the bathroom he goes to Blizzard's room, where she's making her bed, "Hey Blizz, I just came in to say goodbye." announces Blaze, "Already, I thought you were having breakfast here."

"I'll get something on my way to the train station." he replies, "Want me to go with you?" she asks, finishing her bed, "Well, actually that'd be cool, we could have breakfast together then, but lets go." says Blaze, sounding impatient, "Okay." says Blizzard, smiling at her brother, they both start walking.

Once out of the castle, the two royal siblings head to the train station, stopping on the way to have some pancakes. They talk and laugh all the way to the train station.

When they get there, Blaze hands his ticket over and hops on the train to Canterlot, he grabs a seat next to a window and looks through it to find his sister, he finds her and smiles at her, she smiles back.

The train starts to move shortly after, Blizzard waves at her brother and he waves back and just like that, he's gone.

Excitement fills Blaze Shine so much he can barely contain his wide smile, he doesn't know why but he knows this will be a trip worth remembering, the start of something legendary.
