It's been a great two years. Y/n still remembers that text like yesterday. She had been on the bus talking to him. The only him that ever mattered the most to her. Y/n had lied to herself for sometime when she initially fell in love with him. The eventual acceptance after the denial wasn't nearly as rewarding as these TV shows make it out to be.
In fact, reality had set in. He had told her that she was nothing more than a friend. Even got himself a girlfriend after a couple weeks whilst Y/n crumbled apart in her own head. When she had finally managed to pull herself together, he had waltzed right in and told her, "I was mistaken, you were always the one."
Y/n had smiled and said, "Nope. Just the one that got away, Love."
Whether it be a coincidence or simply cruel fate, they had both loved each other when the other wasn't ready, but they weren't childish. Four years into their friendship, they still flirted, but only as best of friends.

The two of them went from these kinds of conversations after four years of friendship to no conversations for the past two years. It was a blow to the soul.
