"BEEP...BEEP... BEEP", My alarm sounded to the start of a new day. Too bad that new day had to start at 6:00 A.M. I groaned as I rolled out of my bed and landed hard on the floor which just made the groaning worse. I really shouldn't have stayed up that late last night on Netflix. My headache was already starting to form as I slowly crawled over to my closet and stood up. "What to wear... what to wear.." I thought to myself as i stood before my walk in closet. Just as I picked out my favorite pair of sweats and a t-shirt from my most recent soccer team, my mom exploded through the door. "Today is the day! Aren't you excited?"

"Ever heard of knocking?" I said as I rolled my eyes. My mom was always excited about something. When you asked her what was going on she added 100 extra details before actually getting to the main point. Being the laid back person that I am, she could be too much sometimes. My mom made her way across my room and sat down on my bed.

"I wish you could be more enthusiastic about things. You act like such a boy sometimes! Don't you know what today is? You can not be wearing that! You need a shower! My goodness child, haven't I raised you better than this?" I was aware I was a tom-boy and wasn't into many girly things. I owned a total of one dress and only wore it on special occasions. I was majorly into sports, and would rather be hanging out with the guys than talking about the guys with the girls.

"What is today?"

"Only the 14th of February of the 16th year of your life!" Now I remembered. Today was Agape Day. This is the day where I receive my charm. Eventually I will find the man that has the other half of my charm and he will be the one I am meant to be with. 100 years ago our divorce rate hit a high of 75%. Scientists did research after research looking at our brain and DNA trying to figure out if the couples that lasted forever had something in common with their brain and DNA. They found it! I don't know the major details but I do know they presented these details to the congress and had them vote. They told the congress that when we are born they can compare our DNA and brains to people close to the same age and opposite sex and decide who we should be with. With the divorce rates going how they are, the congress agreed. At the age of 16 on the 14th of February we would receive our charm that was made for us when we were born.

This has worked for the last 100 years so there has never been any reason for it to change. When we turned 16 we would go on a quest trying to find whom had the other missing piece to our charm. It was all an exciting thing and it could take years to find each other but it was always worth it, or so I've heard. "I forgot! Gosh Darn!" I ran out of my room and into my bathroom where I turned on my shower. When I got to school, every 16 year old would be dressed in their best clothes and would receive their emblem. I was running late. I would only have 30 minutes to get completely ready, which usually wouldn't be a problem but today was Agape Day! "Oh gosh... I'm turning into a girly-girl", I thought as I hurried to finish getting ready. I threw my red dress that reached just above my knee, over my head and my legging on underneath. I looked in the mirror, I looked stunning in my own opinion. My long red locks fell to my waist. My hair was naturally super curly but not the frizzy kind today, it looked amazing today. My face was freckled and the eyeliner made my green eyes stand out. Soccer made me skinny but not too skinny. My stomach was flat but my legs were thick with muscle. My body wasn't a stick, I had curves and the dress really brought that out. "Maybe I have already met my future husband.... I hope he plays soccer or at least one sport!" I really was turning into a girly girl.

"Skylar! It's time to go! NOW!" My mom called. I ran down the stairs and ran into the garage. My dad was waiting for me in his truck. "You ready?" He asked as I put on my seat belt.

"Ready as I will ever be" I replied as he put the car in gear and pulled out of the drive way.
