My dad pulled up to the school building. It was a pretty ancient school. It was made out of dark brick and big enough to hold all of its 500 students. Everyone knew about everyone at my school. "Good luck Sweetheart!", My dad exclaimed as he kissed my cheek, "I love you." I don't know why he was wishing me luck. I wouldn't even start my journey of trying to find this person until I got this charm. I opened the truck door and put one foot out the door. "Wait, I almost forgot. I got you something." He pulled out a small box and opened it. A beautiful silver chain was inside with the engraving of vines and unique patterns on it. "It's to put your charm on when you get it. This way you won't lose it because I know somehow you will."
"Thank you so much!", I said as I threw my arms around him. My dad and I are really close. He is my rock. Whenever someone hurt me, his arms would be open for me to fall into and let it all out. I remember back when I was a child, I came home from school after being bullied for my bright re d hair. My dad let me use him as a punching bag to let it all out. I was small and he was strong so it didn't hurt him but it helped me.
I stepped out of the truck and the school awaited me. I made it to my locker before my best friends got to me. Daniel and Lucy were the people I hung out with most ever since middle school. Daniel had dark brown hair and blue eyes. Girls found themselves drooling over him all the time. His smile was dashing as well. I couldn't deny that. He was my best friend though so his flaws stood out more to me and he was much like a brother. I could never fall for him or see him the way other girls did. Lucy had sandy blonde hair that fell to about half the way down her back. We were both considered pretty average people in the school scene. Lucy had green eyes that could look right through someone. She had such an open personality that people came to her about all of their problems. She truly knew everything that happened around this school from people breaking up to people wanting to harm one another. The only person she would share other peoples' personal information with was me. This gave me the ability to walk down the hallway and spot people who were going through different things and help them. This always gave me the opportunity to share my beliefs on God.
"Hey look it's the three musketeers!" shouted our favorite looney teacher as we walked down the upperclassmen hall. We were known for that nickname. We were the life of the party whether it was in class or actually at a party. We would always find ways to make people life and brighten up their day. We were a team. This teacher, Mr. Watts, was crazy. He is known for drawing on people's faces when they fall asleep in class or one time a kid left the classroom and we all went outside without him. When the kid came back he had no idea where all of us disappeared to. "Hey Mr. Watts, when are we getting our charms today?" Daniel asked anxiously. He might seem like a player but he really does want to find true love someday. Sometimes I feel as though he doesn't even want the attention from the girls.
"The administration will call you down to the ceremonial room here in a few minutes", he said as he looked at his watch. "Are you guys excited?" Lucy and Daniel went on and on talking to Mr. Watt and I added in some but was too focused on imagining the person I was meant to be with. What if I already knew him? What if he was just utterly hideous? Not that I am judgmental on looks but I want to wake up to something at least decent every morning. What if who I never find who I am meant to be with? As soon as this thought entered my head it left it because the bell sounded. A lady, who sounded like she had been smoking her whole life, came over the intercom. "All 16 year olds please report to the ceremonial room." All three of us in sync took a deep breath and headed down a series of hallways to get to the large room that fit all 100 of us. They called us one by one out of the room. They talked to us for awhile and then presented us with our charm with various colors and shapes that would only be able to interlock with the person's charm who you are meant to be with.
Daniel, Lucy, and I picked a seat in front of a group of girls who were all giggling because Daniel Wannaby was sitting within ten feet of them. "Come on ladies get a grip", I thought as I sat down in between both Daniel and Lucy. "why can't they be cool around me like you guys are?" Daniel whispered over to us. Lucy replied, "Because they haven't seen you the way you have; the way you look when you wake up slobbering all over yourself, the way you burp after you drink a can of root beer, or anything even close to that." They just see Daniel Wallaby, the perfect player boy."
"What Lucy is trying to say is we see your ugliness and they don't", I corrected. Daniel rolled his eyes and looked away. I was the blunt one of the group and had a fiery attitude to go with it. It was a good way to make people laugh though. Most people thought I was joking, which sometimes I am.
"Hello students of Takily High!" , oh no it was the smoker voice again but this time she was standing in front of us on the stage. "We will call you all down alphabetically one by one. It will take about Four hours to get through all of you so just sit tight and work on things you need to work on. Please do not get too loud!. Okay, let's get started." She called the first name and came back about 15 minutes later for the second one. "This is going to take more than four hours at this rate." I whispered over to Lucy. All of our last names were at the bottom of the alphabet so we were going to have to wait a long time.
