I woke up from the same nightmare that had been haunting me my entire life. After awhile it stopped bothering me, but this time it gave me the creeps on a whole new level. Hunting, slaying, and tracking down the killer of my family has been my life. Finding out who killed them would be much easier if it wasn't for the fact that every civilization I come to is abandoned or full of the living dead. My only companion, my beloved dog Damon is probably the only thing keeping me sane, but it is also a constant reminder of my past. Damon and I are pretty alike. Both of our families are dead and all we have is each other. Just like every other day, I go out to hunt for some food and heat it up for me and my companion. I collect my things and what I could salvage from the village and started to travel again. Unlike every other day, I happened to come upon a house. It seemed to have blown up and a few fires were still burning on the wood that had once been the roof. In fact, it looked exactly like my house after it had been destroyed. Pools of blood lay on the ground, untouched and unseen by any other human eye. Flashbacks of my family dying flooded my head and I knelt to the ground to steady myself feeling like I might throw up. Too much blood. Probably enough to be a whole family... I tried to clear my mind, I had never been so squirmish about blood before, besides, I was used to being covered in it. More bad memories, I felt like I was about to pass out, being pulled into the pool of darkness that always seemed to lurk in the back of my mind. Suddenly, I heard crying. It sounded like someone young, slowly, I was pulled back into reality. Getting up I looked around the wreckage of the house to see a young girl, about 7, crying and her leg was pinned underneath a rock that had probably once been part of the wall for the house. She screamed at the sight of me, and tried to get away only causing her more pain. I lifted the heavy rock and she instantly got up and ran. I ran after her and easily picked her up right before she passed out.
