A brunette woman was sat in the confines of a padded white room, her hair dull and lifeless, her skin pale, dark bruises under her blank, unblinking blue eyes. She stared into the nothingness of her room, her breathing constricted by the straightjacket that hugged her sickeningly thin body. A male doctor entered her room, but she didn't tear her eyes away from whatever she was looking at.
"I'm a lost cause. I don't know why you still come," she remarked plainly, her heavily accented voice coated in misery. The doctor only chuckled, shaking his head at her attitude.
"You are far from a failure, child. You are of great potential," the English man responded. The girl's eyes moved to his form, unfocused and uncaring.
"Die," she drawled, exhausted. As if ordered by his own mind, he reached up and twisted his head until his neck cracked and he fell lifelessly to the ground. The woman turned her attention back to the dust particles that moved aimlessly around her room, poisoning the air with pollen.

My past flashed before my eyes as I chased after my mate. I was confused as to why the flashbacks were occurring, but I pushed onward nevertheless. I saw a billowing black cloak up ahead, and I strained to move faster.
"What do you think your doing?" a guard questioned when he looked back. I simply glared as I surpassed him. I shoved through multiple guards, and then the entire coven stopped moving. Cautious, I pushed through the frozen crowd until I reached the front. There the kings and their queens stood, surrounded by the five vampires that made up their highest guard.
"Yes, child?" Aro inquired, raising an inky eyebrow. I bowed respectively before I slowly approached him.
"Sir, I have no heart. I have no human facets, yet I feel the way I do. I wish for you to identify my bonds, King Marcus," I stated, my burgundy eyes turning upon Marcus. He nodded respectively, his eyes as bored and lifeless as they normally were.
"I see," he murmured, grazing the back of his hand against Aro's. Aro's eyes lit up with excitement.
"Judging by your expressions, I see that the result is as I feared. I ask for an audience with my mate," I drawled, eyeing the remainder of the coven. "A private audience."
"Of course, dear! I am pleased to find that dear Jane has found her mate after all this time!" Aro cheered, grinning childishly. I nodded respectfully, prompting each person but Jane to leave. The small blonde girl and I stood alone, gazing at each other.
"It seems as thought we meet again," I chimed, smiling slightly. Her lips twitched in response as she stared intently at me.
"It does, doesn't it?" she spoke softly. I couldn't help but smile warmly at the sound of her childlike voice. Her beautifully full lips tilted up in a bigger smile at the sight of my own. I could think of nothing but how much I wished to be with her, just the two of us.
"You could leave," I blurted before I could stop myself. She furrowed her eyebrows, a frown taking place on her pink lips.
"Why do you say that?" she asked, head cocked to the side slightly. She resembled an adorable puppy, curious about the world.
"I'm sorry. My thoughts always find a way to escape my head," I replied sheepishly. She pouted slightly.
"That doesn't answer my question," she said. I sighed, pushing my wind blown hair from my face.
"I meant that you could leave your coven and I could leave mine. We could be together without worrying about being separated. Sorry again. It's a mate thing," I murmured. Her eyes never left mine, and I watched the flurry of emotions swirling beneath the serene crimson surface.
"You know how much I wish I could, but I cannot. I have my brother, and my coven," she replied, her gorgeous face contorting in agony. I smiled sadly, looking to the snow that beneath my feet.
"That is precisely why I apologized for proposing the idea," I whispered. The wind shifted briefly, and then two fingers were lifting my chin up. My eyes found hers, red and filled with pain, and hers found mine.
"We kill Chelsea and Aro, we're free," she mumbled, caressing my cheek with her delicate hand. I held her palm against my skin, closing my eyes as I leaned into her touch.
"I could massacre your entire coven with a wave of my hand. Those two show no challenge to defeat," I murmured, pressing a kiss to her cold wrist.
"We should do it. I can bring you with me, and I can spread the news to the high guard. They won't tell anyone. If anything, they'll help. We kill Chelsea when we return, then we defeat the Kings," she said, prompting me to open my eyes. I smiled softly at her plan with a nod.
"Your plan is wondrous. It shall go into effect immediately," I said. She grinned at me, placing a soft kiss on my forehead.
The plan was infallible. It would go off without a hitch. Then, the top guard and I would be free. We could live without fear of the future. We could be the new rulers of the vampire world. We could be together.

Jane and I left for Volterra with the Volturi after that. We held each other the entire way there, which was amazing. I enjoyed having her small self in my arms and I enjoyed the smell of her blonde hair.
So, Jane and I cuddled in her room when we reached the castle. With our bodies tangled together, we talked of nothing and everything at the same time for hours on end.
"Jane?" said a timid female voice from the other side of my mate's door.
"Chelsea," Jane whispered lowly in my ear. "Enter. What is it you need?" I flinched slightly at the venom lacing her voice, but sat up and glared at the newcomer as she entered the room.
"Master Aro wishes to see you. He said to bring Nadia," the girl said. I beckoned for Chelsea to come farther into the room, and she did. I used the energy burning in the air to close the bedroom door.
"Chelsea, you are a nuisance to my relationship with Jane. Therefore, I must end you," I murmured. With a wave of my hand, her head was severed from her shoulders. Jane and I pulled her arms from her torso and hid them in separate parts of her bedroom, saving the head for when we'd go down to visit the Kings.
"That was a rush. I no longer feel attached here," Jane said. I giggled quietly in response and laced our fingers together.
"Let's go kick some royal butt."
