Beta John's POV
It was Saturday and I along my some of the best trackers form our pack was waiting outside the pack house for Alpha Ayden.
Soon we heard the Alpha coming down the stairs you could clearly hear growling meant he was arguing with his wolf knowing this we all bow our head submissively to show respect.
" You ready Alpha" I asked seeing his eyes turn sliver then back to blue showing that his wolf was fighting for dominance.
"Yea but my wolf his not happy that we haven't found his mate yet" he said looking around the room " Yes I know Alpha we're going to" I said assuringly. I saw the alpha eye wonder around the room and land on Fred one of our trackers.
" Fred I heard you found your mate how is she doing" Ayden said smiling slightly " Yes Alpha I did she is great, I hope we find your mate" at the mentioned of the Alpha's mate his eyes darken I being his Beta I could feel the sadness of his wolf.
I cleared my throat, Fred bowed his head understanding what he had done wrong, seeing that it wasn't his fault that the Alpha was on edge I walked over and patt him on
the back then headed out the door.
"Is everything ready" Ayden growled out form behind. "Yes Alpha everything is ready" I said looking straight a head. " Then lets get this over with".
We landed in Chicago around 1:00 and was greeted with a bright sunshine, they're seven small town we're going to search before we call it a day. " You guys know the procedure" I growling they nodded there head understanding.
" The first town we hit is 2 hours from here we leave no stone unturned got it" I said in my Beta tone showing them I was serious "Yea we got it Beta " they said replied.
I turn around to seeing Ayden looking straight a head with a expression on his face that I can't discribe so I decided to leave it alone.
The job was to find Alpha Ayden's mate and that what I'm going to do that's what we're going to do I heard my wolf say in my head, I knew he desperately wants to take over but no he would cause so much trouble and that the opposite of how I want this to go so I keep him in the back of my mind for know until I need his help.
The second town that we hit was dead end same as the first and yet I was so desperate to hit the next. I turned to the Alpha I saw his eye slit sliver his wolf was present, I bury my neck in submission.
" Alpha we haven't found anything" I glance at him " Beta" as this left his mouth I knew his wolf was in control so respect was needed in his presence
"Yes Alpha" I replied " At the next town we stop and get some food the men are hungry and I don't treat my pack members badly" he said and I knew it wasn't a question but a command "Yes Alpha" with that I turn to got tell the men.
Throughout this trip the Alpha's wolf was present. We hit the fifty town and came up empty just like the third and fourth but I knew without a doubt that we're not given up. We stop at the sixth town to get some food the men were hungry again I looked up at the Alpha to see his eyes wondering around the diner we stopped at. I wondering what was up with him so I approached him.
I sat in the seat opposite to him and watch as his eye change form sliver to blue, I knew him and his wolf was in conflict It could only involve this mission to find his mate, we have failed him my wolf said I shook my head we have another town I hope we found her.
"Beta john" the sound of the Alpha's voice pulled me out of the argument with my wolf " Yes Alpha" I said looking at his eyes to see they were blue I assume Ayden was in control "John is it ohk my wolf is just getting impatient and annoyed form all this empty search".
The statement that left his mouth had my wolf whimpering and saying that we have failed I too sulked but didn't take failure the Alpha clearing seeing my sadeness " Beta it isn't your fault for not finding my mate maybe she isn't ready to be found or who know where she is but if we don't find her we leave it be" OK was all I could get pass my mouth.
At the seventh town I was hoping on the mooned goddess to bless today my Alpha deserve happiness, he is a good and loving Alpha that take care of his pack his wolf loves us as his own and they both deserve to be happy. Suddenly the Alpha stopped in his track I look to see we we're Infront of a college.
I look up at the Alpha to ask why we stop but stop myself as I saw his eyes darken " Do you smell that" the Alpha ask I immediately sniff the air but came up short." No" I replied I could hear the trackers sniffing the air too
"She was hear Beta my mate, she must of came to this school but the scent is faint"
My wolf wanted to howling in joy that the Alpha has found his mate's smell. We search the rest of the small town but came up short we were disappointed but then a guiddness came over me I looked up to see the Alpha talking to the trackers " John I know the the scent is faint but we should look in the other town" he said it more like a command that and statement.
On our way to the next town I could see the tension rolling off Ayden. We approached what looked like an apartment but it was not in the best condition it looked like a hurricane past through the it the front door was off the side of the building smelled foul you could see it was not in proper living conditions.
" She must live in here" the Ayden said but it was like a whisper "But she can't" he whispered to himself again then he turn around " My mate must live here the scent is so strong but I can tell she is not here know" I looked at Ayden then back at the building his mate lives here I thought to myslef "We must keep moving she's near I can feel it" we didn't stop we just kept on following him.
We must of walk for two blocks, Till suddenly we are outside of a cute little diner that's when I saw the alpha eyes draken than it ever did before and I knew our future Luna his in this diner.
Ayden didn't even stop he just when straight inside not a moment later did I heard growling then Ayden saying
" Mine".
