The Underworld According to Rick Riordan: The Different Sections

Unless Cerberus attacks you, you can either go through judgement from the ghosts of famous people like Minos, Lincoln, and Washington, or you can chose the EZ Death lane. EZ Death leads you straight to Asphodel Fields. If you go through judgement you can either go to Fields of Elysium, Asphodel Fields, or be punished. You might be wondering what is the difference between Fields of Elysium and Asphodel Fields, well here are the two completely different descriptions.

Asphodel Fields- "Imagine standing in a wheat field in Kansas. Forever." (The Lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan)

Fields of Elysium- "Beyond the security gate were neighborhoods of beautiful houses from every time period in history, Roman villas and medieval castles and Victorian mansions. Silver and gold flowers bloomed on the lawns. the grass rippled rainbow colors. I could hear laughter and smell barbecue cooking." (The Lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan)

Now I think you know why most people want judgement and a chance to go to Elysium. Some people who did certain questionable things might want to go to Asphodel instead of risking the chance of going to the Fields of Punishment.

"To the left, spirits flanked by security ghouls were marched down a rocky path towards the Fields of Punishment, which glowed and smoked in the distance, a vast, cracked wasteland with rivers of lava and minefields and miles of barbed wire seperating the different torture areas. Even from far away, I could see people being chased by hellhounds, burned at the stake, forced to run naked through cactus patches or listen to opera music. I could just make out a tiny hill, with the ant-sized figure of Sisyphus struggling to move his boulder to the top. And I saw worse tortures, too---things I don't want to describe." (The Lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan)

I don't know about you, but that doesn't sound like a place I want to spend all eternity in.

The Underworld According to Rick Riordan: Hades and His Throne Room

"He was atleast ten feet tall, for one thing, and dressed in black silk robes and a crown of braided gold. His skin was albino white, his hair shoulder-length and jet black. He wasn't bulked up like Ares, but he radiated power." (The Lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan)

Hades, Lord of the Underworld. He may not be consider one of the Twelve Olympians, Hades is not one to reckon with. Everyone has flaws, his biggest flaw is holding grudges, and trust me, gods and goddesses don't forget much. Hades is usually cruel, and untrustful. Surprisingly, Hades didn't break a promise that both Zeus and Poseidon broke.

The throne room is modeled after Olympus, because he isn't allowed there except during the annual meetings.

The Underworld According to Rick Riordan: Persephone and Her Garden

"At first I thought the woman was a ghost. Her dress billowed around her like smoke. Her long dark hair floated and curled as if it were weightless. Her face was beautiful but deathly pale." The Demigod Files.

Persephone is a daughter of Demeter, and also the Queen of the Underworld. She was taken by Hades and tricked into eating six pomegranate seeds. Whoever eats food from the Underworld must stay there. Since she ate six seeds she was forced to spend half the year in the Underworld. Persephone became Hades wife, and has her own garden in the Underworld where she spends most of her time. She doesn't like any of the demi-god children of Hades, which is an epic two kids in Percy Jackson.
