Percy Jackson[edit] Main article: Percy Jackson
Perseus "Percy" Jackson (nicknamed Seaweed Brain by Annabeth) is a 12-17-year-old "demigod" (in the Percy Jackson universe the son of a god and a mortal), the son of Sally Jackson and Poseidon and is born on August 18. One of the strongest demigods in both series, Percy Jackson's powers are only possibly challenged by those of his cousins, Nico di Angelo, Hazel Levesque, Jason Grace and Thalia Grace. Percy is the protagonist and narrator of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series and one of the main characters in the Heroes of Olympus series. As a child of one of the "Big Three" Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon. Percy fulfils a major prophecy of the Oracle, which foretold that the next half-blood child of the Big Three to reach the age of sixteen would have to make a decision that would mean the destruction or preservation of Mount Olympus
Percy is a son of Poseidon whom is part of the Big Three( Zeus, Hades and Poseidon)making him one of the most powerful demigods in the world.
The main plots of the five books of the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series focus on a series of quests Percy participates in along with his friends. In The Lightning Thief, he seeks Zeus's stolen master thunderbolt. In The Sea of Monsters, he seeks the Golden Fleece. In The Titan's Curse, he seeks the goddess Artemis, who is missing, and Annabeth, who fell off a cliff when battling a manticore. In The Battle of the Labyrinth, he travels the Labyrinth, a large subterranean maze, in order to defend Camp Half-Blood from attackers, and in The Last Olympian, he helps the camp and Olympus fight against the Titan army. Each of the Percy Jackson & the Olympians books is loosely based on the myth of a Greek hero: The Lightning Thief is based on the story of Perseus; The Sea of Monsters on the stories of Odysseus and Jason combined; The Titan's Curse on the story of Hercules; The Battle of the Labyrinth on the story of Theseus; and The Last Olympian on the story of Achilles. He functions largely as an unseen character in The Lost Hero—in fact, he is the eponymous hero—but returns as the protagonist in The Son of Neptune, in which he suffers from amnesia and becomes affiliated with Camp Jupiter, an analogous camp for adolescent demigods with Roman characteristics rather than Greek. During the course of the series, he and Annabeth Chase develop mutual romantic feelings and begin dating. In the Mark of Athena, he willingly falls to Tartarus with Annabeth.
Percy is disliked by many gods. Among them are Dionysus and Pompona, who dislike all demigods on principle; Athena, who is Annabeth's mother and his father's rival; Ares, who has fought him and loses when he is an unknowing accomplice of Luke in the first book; Hera, who has interfered in his quests; Hades, who considers him an upstart; Amphitrite, who considers him a symbol of her husband's unfaithfulness, Triton, who is possibly jealous of him, Terminus, who in The Son of Neptune suspects he is a Greek, and for an unknown reason Hercules, Phobos, and Deimos. However, there are also gods who respect him such as Artemis, Apollo, Hestia, Hermes, Aphrodite, his father Poseidon, and likely Iris. Zeus has mixed feelings for him. Then there are those who have little to no emotion to him, such as Demeter, Hephaestus, Persephone, and Eris; Janus and Pan, who appear to Percy in The Battle of the Labyrinth but do not socialize with him; and Ariadne, Hecate, Morpheus, Nemesis, Aeolus, Khione, Thanatos, Cupid, Bellona, and Boreas, who have never met him.
Percy is very good-looking. He is described as having his father's black hair and sea-green eyes, which are described as wild as the sea. His training at Camp Half-Blood helps make him athletic. He is above average height, with an athletic build and muscular arms. Piper McLean has described him as "unimpressive" next to her boyfriend Jason Grace, but she has also admittedly said that she thinks Percy is cute in a scruffy way, like a skater. Percy is described as being shorter than many people in the start of the series, but in the Last Olympian he says that he is "finally taller than Annabeth." He also has a mischievous look to him and is unpredictable. Piper McLean says that only Annabeth Chase can tame him. Percy can be like his nickname, Seaweed Brain, at times. Often he portrays himself as not very intelligent, but in times of crisis, he is quite the opposite.
Percy has a caring and generous personality, as he would do anything for anyone in need. His fatal flaw is his relentless loyalty. Percy is easily likeable by his peers. He quickly made his way to the top of Camp Half- Blood and did the same at Camp Jupiter, becoming praetor.
He was portrayed by Logan Lerman in the film adaptation of The Lightning Thief and The Sea of Monsters.[1]
Annabeth Chase[edit]
Annabeth Chase is a 12-17-year-old, the daughter of Athena and Fredrick Chase. She runs away from home when she is seven years old, encountering two other demigods, Luke Castellan and Thalia Grace. Her birthday is July 12. When Grover Underwood, the satyr, finds them, he tries to lead them back to Camp Half-Blood but makes a wrong turn into a Cyclops's lair. The Cyclops captures Luke, Thalia, and Grover. When Annabeth finds them, the Cyclops mimics her dad's voice. To the Cyclops's surprise, she stabs him in the foot. Then she frees Thalia, who takes it from there, saving Luke and Grover. When she gets to camp, on Half-Blood Hill, Thalia holds up an army of monsters for them (Grover, Luke, and Annabeth) to get away. Thalia eventually gets hurt and is dying. Zeus (Thalia's dad) takes pity on her and turns her into a pine tree to save her life. For five years she waits for her chance to lead a quest into the real world. She gets her chance when Percy Jackson comes along.
In the first book, Percy describes her as having curly blonde hair, with a tan and athletic build. He says that she would look like a stereotype California girl, except her stormy gray eyes ruin the image. She is first seen when she is feeding Percy nectar and is asking him about what will happen at the summer solstice. He is expecting admiration from her after he defeats the Minotaur, which is what most of the demigods have been training for. Afterward, he sees her again when Chiron introduces them. She soon leaves. Annabeth has to introduce him to the Hermes cabin, where he is placed until he is claimed by Poseidon. She joins Percy on all his quests, except in The Titan's Curse, when she is captured, and in The Battle of the Labyrinth, where she becomes Quest Leader, taking Percy along as her second. In The Lightning Thief, Percy notices she seems to have a crush on Luke, but it disappears over the first series and is gone in The Last Olympian, as she tells Luke that although he was like a brother to her, but she didn't love him. She becomes jealous of Rachel Elizabeth Dare and Calypso, as she suspects Percy of having a crush on them. Annabeth kisses Percy in The Battle of the Labyrinthine and they begin to date. In The Lost Hero, when Percy goes missing, she searches non-stop for him until she and Jason Grace (Thalia's long-lost brother) come to the conclusion that he is in the Roman Camp. In The Son of Neptune, she is the only person Percy remembers from his past. In The Mark of Athena, she and Percy reunite, and she has her own solo quest, to follow the Mark of Athena. She frees the Athena Parthenos by tricking Arachne, but in the end she and Percy fall into Tartarus when her leg is caught in one of Arachne's spiderwebs. She could not cut it because all of her stuff had fallen into Tartarus and Percy's sword, Riptide, was out of reach. In "The House of Hades" she and Percy stubble around Tartarus together and finally find the doors of death, close them, and get,out of Tartarus.
Annabeth is considered to be extremely beautiful, especially by Percy. Aphrodite once complimented her, saying, "Annabeth, you've grown into quite a beautiful young lady." In The Mark of Athena, Chrysaor also complimented her by saying "It would be shameful to kill this pretty young lady." while he captured the Argo II. Annabeth is also very strong as shown in The Titans Curse where she was able to hold the weight of the sky, albeit briefly. Despite having good looks, she prides herself more on her intelligence and talent at fighting. As a daughter of Athena, Annabeth excels at anything having to do with academic studies or useful arts and crafts. One of her main weapons is her intellectual abilities, especially her strategic excellence. She is said to want to become an architect when she grows up and also redesigns Mount Olympus after the titan war. She is also a very powerful and experienced fighter, partially since she has been training since age seven.
In the Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief|first film adaptation]], Annabeth has brunette hair, while in the second film adaptation, she has partially blonde hair. She was portrayed by Alexandra Daddario in the film adaptation of "The Lightning Thief" and "Sea of Monsters".
