"I can't believe this," Ryder says coldly and crosses his arms, "You of all people are my new roommate."
"Well--"
"And your familiar is one of the Miyette twins," Ryder's eyes dart to the twins standing behind me, "Great."
"Actually, they're both my familiars," I correct him and he raises his eyebrows at me.
"You have two familiars? Interesting..." He mutters before shaking his head and sighing, "Whatever. I guess there's nothing I can do about you staying here. Just don't move, speak, or breathe around me and we'll be good."
"Wouldn't that mean that I'm never around you, then?" I raise a brow at him.
"And we have a winner," He says as he spins around on his heel and walks away into the bathroom.
"Don't worry about him," Antheia sighs and shakes her head, "He's just annoying and not worth you taking the time to bother about."
"Yeah," Flinn smiles brightly and slings an arm around my shoulders, "Don't worry about him! You're in much better company with me!"
Antheia raises a brow at her twin brother and crosses her arms.
"I mean," Flinn corrects himself, "You're in much better company with us."
I smile slightly at the two of them, suddenly feeling better about my situation, and look around the dorm. The dorm itself is lit by a giant French styled window and two twin sized beds are placed against the edges of the window, one on each side. The bed on the right is covered with white sheets and light blue pillows, while the bed on the left has light blue sheets and white pillows, and there's a dark wooden dresser inbetween the two of them. Meanwhile, there's a deep brown, circular rug in the middle of the room and there's closet off to the right while the bathroom is off to the left and there's a writing desk beside the closet door with several papers scattered on it. There's also a wooden bookshelf next to the writing desk, which is crammed full of books, and a little shelf for your shoes by the entrance of the dorm door.
"I wonder where I should put my stuff," I mutter to myself, "I wouldn't want to make Ryder even angrier."
"If I were you, I wouldn't care," Antheia shrugs, "But if you insist."
A few moments later Ryder comes back out of the bathroom and he sighs.
"I made room for your beauty products or necessities or whatever you want to put in there," Ryder says, "Just don't mix them with my things."
"Thank you," I smile slightly at him, but he doesn't smile back in return.
"You can take the bed on the right," He says and tilts his head in the direction of the white bed, "And I'll make room for your clothes in the closet."
I nod in appreciation and as he stands there in the light of the window I notice that he has a scar running up from his jawline to almost his cheekbone on the left side of his face and I stare at him in confusion.
"What happened to--"
"You should start unpacking," He interrupts me as his eyes burn into mine coldly and tell me not to ask.
I close my mouth and purse my lips before sighing.
"You're probably right," I say and walk over to the white bed before placing my luggage on top of it and opening it.
Ryder makes his way over to the closet and starts making room for my clothes while I begin to unpack.
"Ryder," I start, curiosity getting the better of me, "Where's your familiar?"
"I don't have a familiar," He says as he walks across the room and his eyes scan over me.
"You don't have a familiar?" I frown.
"No," Another male voice comes from the doorway, "Animals don't like him very much, but girls flock around him. Funny how that works, huh?"
"What do you want, Ezra?" Ryder rolls his eyes and the boy with black hair and blue eyes chuckles as he stands in the doorway.
"I just came to check on the new student. I heard that she's your roommate and I wanted to wish her good luck. In all seriousness though," Ezra says as his eyes land on me and he smiles genuinely, "Welcome to the academy. I'm Ezra Grayson. Anyways, goodbye."
"It was nice meeting you, I'm Philomena!" I shout as he walks down the hallway and Ryder snorts.
"What?" I ask as I turn towards him.
"I'm surprised that he even bothered to visit," Ryder says, "Ezra usually doesn't talk to very many people because he simply doesn't want to."
"Oh," I frown, "He didn't seem to like you very much."
A small smirk makes its way upon Ryder's lips.
"I take pride in that," He says as he walks back over to the closet, "But Ezra is probably one of the people I would actually consider a friend."
"Yeah," I mutter, "Your cold personality probably just brings around herds of people..."
After a few hours I finally manage to get everything situated in the dorm and I remember that I have to report to the first class that I'm able to fully attend for today, so I put on my uniform before going back to my bag.
"Okay," I say as I pull out my schedule, "Ryder left for class after he made space for my clothes in the closet, so I guess that means you two will have to show me around."
"As if I'd let you be shown around by Ryder anyways," Antheia says with a wry smile and looks over my schedule with me.
"It looks like the first class I can attend is Potions101, and then Basic Wizardry101 is right after that," I say and the Miyette twins nod.
"Follow us," Antheia says and transforms back into her fox form, along with her brother.
I follow the two of them out of the room and back down the floating platform, which we ride down three floors before getting off. After riding the platform down, I follow my familiars through several passageways and make sure not to run into any students in the process, or knock papers out of their hands this time. After successfully being led to class I breathe out a sigh of relief. As I stand in the doorway of Potions101 and look down the rows of desks I spot Augustina and a smile forms on my face. Maybe my first day here won't be so bad after all.
