Saved By The Bell

Quil elbowed me in the ribs.
"Ow! What?!" I covered my mouth quickly when I realized how loudly I had responded.
Quil laughed along with the rest of the classroom.
Quil motioned to Mr. Kness.
Me. Kness asked a question that apparently he had already asked me while I was in my own world.
"Um.." I tried to rack my brain for anything that would be helpful. Math wasn't my strong suit. In fact, it was my weakest suit. I got good grades in the class, but that's only because Mr. Kness favors me.
To my relief the bell rang at that moment and saved myself from being embarrassed in front of the whole class for not knowing the answer.
On our way to history class Christine was going on to me about about her new crush Mike Newton from Forks that she had met at the party over the weekend. Mike and I were acquaintances, but just from parties. Mike's parents went out of town a lot, so he was always having parties.
"He's so cute and sweet!" Christine gushed. "I can't believe he actually texted you and asked for my number! Did he say anything about me?"
"I'll show you the text message," I said pulling out my phone.
'Hey Lunetta! It's a shame you couldn't make it to my party. Your friend Christine came and she said that you invited her. She's cool! Can you give me her number?'
"Oh my gosh!" Christine giggled,"He said I'm cool!"
I rolled my eyes,"So did he ask you on a date?" I asked as we walked into history class.
She made a face,"Not really... He just said he wants to hangout with me. We're going to Pacific Pizza."
"Oh perfect!" I exclaimed,"I'll tell my employees to spy on you!"
"There probably won't be much to spy on if we're just hanging out." She said in a different tone, trying to be nonchalant.
"So when are you two going to "hangout"?" I made quotation marks with my finders around the last two words and winked at her.
"Friday night!" Christine squealed, her excitement coming back all of a sudden.
"You two!" Our history Mrs. Greenhill screeched at us,"No talking after the bell!"
For an old lady that looked so weak and frail, she sure was aggressive.
"Ok."I quickly agreed with a smile.
"No,"She folded her arms across her small, fragile frame,"It's not ok."
"Ok-I mean sorry." I laughed.
"Humph,"Mrs.Greenhill grumbled,"Get to your seats!"
I wanted snap back at her, but I just took a deep breath to control my anger and turned to Christine so I could roll my eyes without "She-devil" seeing.
Her lesson was boring, as usual, seeming to drag on longer than it should.
I actually love learning about history, just not when she was teaching it.
"I learned more about Native American history from watching Pocahontas, and that movie isn't even historical accurate." I whispered to Ashley, a girl from the Makkah tribe who I now sit next to after Mrs. Greenhill moved me and Christine apart.
Ashley tried to stifle her laughter so we wouldn't get in trouble. The room was dead silent because everyone was filling out the five page worksheet She-Devil had given us, even a pin drop would have caught Mrs. Greenhill's attention.
"Lunetta!" She yelled so loud that the whole room stopped what they were doing and looked at her, and then over to me.
"How many times do I have to change your seat?"
Mrs. Greenhill doesn't want me sitting next to my friends because I talk to much. Jokes on her because I make friends with everyone.
"Mr. Reed, I'm going to have you switch switch seats with Ms. Lahote."
James Reed quickly packed up his stuff. I took my time, exchanging faces with Christine who was across the room.
The whole room waited until I was in my new seat before getting back to work.
Once settled in, I took a look at who I would be sitting next to, my new "friends."
On my right was a girl named Breanna Harvey. She's a huge flirt with all the boys, but she's rude to girls, except her small circle of friends. I would have no problem refraining from talking to her.
On my left was Embry Call. He's one of those people I've known my whole life, but I never really talked to. He has always been really shy and doesn't talk to anyone much unless you start the conversation.
Embry gave me half a smile when his eyes met mine.
I didn't say another word the rest of history, I decided to be good...for today anyway.
After history I had English. I didn't know anyone very well in that class-besides Paul, Jacob, and Jared. Thank God that I had a cool English teacher, or that class would drag on too.
At lunch Sierra and I teased Christine more about her "hangout" with Mike Newton, and they helped me make plans for the "farewell party".
After lunch my two classes, science and dance, went by fast.

Christine, Sierra, and I went to the gym together, after school for leg day.
"Luna, you have to be doing workouts behind our backs!" Christine examined my body.
I laughed,"I go for a run every once in a while, but that's about it."
"But you're body is so toned and firm! Tell me your secret!" Christine demanded.
"Well I don't eat cake and pizza every day, like you." I snickered.
Sierra joined in laughing when Christine flipped me off.
When I got home from the gym Aunt Nina and Sol were already cooking dinner.
"What are we having?" I asked, popping someone of the chopped vegetables into my mouth.
"Pot pie,"Sol answered.
"Where's Joey?" I noticed that it was way too quiet and clean.
"He's taking a nap. Actually, can you go wake him up for me? I don't want him to be up all night." My aunt shuttered at the idea.
"Sure!"
Kids are so cute and peaceful when they're asleep.
"Joey,"I called once I was standing over his small bed. He didn't respond so I picked him up, cradling him like a baby. It's been so hard for me to hold it together this week, but looking at my sister's son reminded me why I had to keep my head up. I have to stay strong for Joey.
Joey stretched out in my arms when I gave him a kiss on his head.
"Auntie," He smiled when he opened his eyes.
"Hey baby." There was nothing in the world that could stopped me from smiling when I looked at him.

I'm surrounded by darkness. Feeling of sadness consumed me, it was erie. All I wanted was to leave. I ran in every direction, but it felt like I was stuck in tar and I could only walk very slowly.
"Hello?" I called in desperation.
My voice didn't echo at all, it was swallowed by the darkness.
I tried to run around again to find something, but I still had no success.
"Please help me someone!" I cried.
Still quiet.
I walked around for what must have been at least an hour, calling "Hello?" Every 3 minutes or so until my throat hurt.
"Hello?" My voice cracked on the "o".
Still nothing.
Another night of bad dreams. Another day just going through the motions. I tried to remember that I had to be strong, but it was hard not to think about Danica.
After having dinner and watching t.v. with my family I tried calling Will so I could talk to him, but he didn't answer.
'He must be studying,' I thought to myself.
I decided to go out for a jog.
I swear I could almost see Blaze giving me the mental finger when I informed him that I would be going alone tonight.
The cold air felt nice on my face while I ran. The sun was going to set soon, the sky was orange and pink. I was pleasantly surprised to see that First beach was completely vacant. It wasn't very often I could go somewhere without running into someone I know.
"Hey Luna!"
I spoke too soon.
I turned around to see Jason, a senior boy from Forks. He was a really cool guy and fun to hangout with. He used to be really good friends with Paul, we all used to hang out together.
"Hey Jason! What are you doing in La Push?" I hadn't seen him here since Paul cut us of.
"I came here to see you- to see how you're doing." He smiled at me.
"Really?" I asked, surprised.
"Yeah, really. How are you?" He asked me.
"I'm doing good! How about you?"
"I'm doing ok..." he emphasized the word 'ok', "But it's been forever since I've seen you."
"We should totally hangout," I agreed,"I was thinking about having a bonfire tonight and inviting a ton of people from my school and from Forks."
"Actually, I was talking about you and me hanging out. Just the two of us. Maybe this weekend?"
Of course. I can never have guy friends, because every time I get start to become friendly with them, they start to like me and it gets awkward.
This is another reason why I needed my cousin back.
I love my girlfriends, but sometimes hanging out with girls is too much drama
I just need a good guy friend that wont gain a crush on me. Paul was the only guy I could count on for that to never happen.
"Uh, this weekend I'm actually going to Seattle to see my boyfriend." Surely he would get the message.
"Don't you get tired of being in a long distance relationship?" He picked up my hand in his.
This was just getting more and more uncomfortable for me.
"No, I love Will. The distance doesn't mean anything." When I tried to take back my hand, Jason just gripped tighter.
"Can you please let me go?" I asked way more politely than I necessary. I should've slapped him in the face.
"You've had the same boyfriend for years, don't you ever get bored." Jason said as he brought he face closer to mine.
"No! Get off of me!" I tried to push him away, but he was so much stronger than me.
I knew I should have brought Blaze. He could come in very useful right now.
I started to panic. I don't know if I should scream, hit Jason, try to run away, or do all three.
"There's no reason to get upset," Jason said in a soothing voice, his face was almost touching mine.
"Stop,"I said through unsteady breathing.
"I've wanted to do this for so long," he whispered.
I was horrified.
"Don't-" I started to talk but I was cutoff by his lips pressing firmly against mine. This can't be happening.
