"I open my eyes to find myself in a dark room with spotlights on the sides of the walls. There are no doors only paintings and the spotlights illuminating them. I feel the panic rising in me and call out, "Hello? Is anyone in here??" I shout louder, "Hello?" I hear a creak coming from somewhere in the wall. The noise shifts across the room so much until I get dizzy from trying to pin point where it came from. I sit down and put my head between my knees. My inhales are short and ragged, my exhales inaudible. I feel a cold tap on my right shoulder and jerk but don't dare to make a sound. "Alexina?", a man says. And then I wake up."

"Wow," says Jude with her jaw dropped, "So you're Alexina?" Jude is the only girl friend I have. She's smart and pretty with hazel eyes and black hair and probably too good for me though she doesn't always act it. We were BFFs in kindergarten and it stuck despite her being friends with the popular girls too. "I guess?", I respond. In all my years on this planet no one has ever called me Alexina until Jake did last night and then the man in my dream did. Was it...my real name? And why didn't I know that? I guess I was staring off into the distance again so Jude snapped me back into reality like the good friend she is, by kicking me in the arm. No, but really, Jude is a good friend, that's the only reason I feel comfortable talking to her about this. "Are you gonna talk to your dad about it?", she asks. "I don't know, I mean what if it's better if I don't know the truth." "Fair point but if I were in your shoes, getting hurt by the truth seems better than never knowing, talk to your dad, Alex, or whatever your name is." She grins and I smile back weakly as we head out the lunchroom and into English. Oh joy.
