ELLIOT POV
Have you ever been in that weird state where, your so paranoid that even the quietest sound can make you jump?
Well, that's how I felt the whole time I was climbing down that ladder, so when Jaimie screamed; I freaked.
Startled, I jumped which resulted in my feet slipping off the ladder along with my left hand.
I couldn't help but scream as I made the whole ladder shake, trying to wiggle my feet back onto the steps.
"What's going on?!" Kayden screamed from the top. "Jaimie, Elliot! You okay?!"
"Sorry, it was a walker!" I heard Jaimie shout from below. "But Connor took care of it! So we're good!"
"Speak for yourself!" I screamed, starting to panic a little.
I wasn't that far off the ground. I wouldn't die if I fell or anything but if I landed wrong I could seriously hurt my leg and in this world, that's the same as dying.
You can't run from walkers and you can't protect yourself. Your helpless.
"Alright Elliot! I'm going to need you stop moving. I'm going to come down and help you out but I can't move if you keep shaking the ladder! So just ... hold on!"
"Oh why didn't I think of that?! I'll just hold on! I don't know though, I might let go and see if I can fly!" I snorted sarcastically.
"Shut the fuck up Elliot, I'm trying to help you! Don't be so damn sarcastic all the time!" Kayden snapped, dismissing his caring tone.
"I'm about to die! If I want to be sarcastic then I'll be sarcastic, alright?! Good! Now get the fuck down here!"
"Your not going to die!" He shouted in a bored tone. I could practically hear him rolling his eyes.
"I will if you don't hurry your ass up!"
I could feel the strain on my hand, making it harder and harder for me to hold on by the second.
Although just before I lost my grip, Kayden's foot came level to my face, moving down the ladder before his abdomen was near my hand.
"Grab my hand." He demanded, stretching down to reach me.
"This was a bad idea!" I shout. "This isn't going to work! How am I supposed to get on the la-"
"Just trust me!" He shouted back.
My grip was down to the tips of my fingers and wouldn't last another minute. It's now or never.
As my hand finally slipped, my left swung up and gripped Kayden's hand for dear life, causing the ladder to shake once more.
"I'm going to pull you up and as soon as your feet are on a step tell me and I'll let go then move down. Okay?!"
"Alright." I answered shakily.
His arm visible shook under the pressure of my weight and his own. It was a few seconds before my foot was steady on a step.
"I'm good." I sigh. Now comes the awkward part.
In this moment, I am currently under Kayden, in between his legs which means either he will have to go down first and climb over me or I'll have to climb under him.
Not awkward at all.
"I'll go down first." I suggest. "My legs are further down."
"Alright, just try not to throw me off on your way down."
Rolling my eyes, I quickly yet carefully manoeuvre my way under Kayden and down the ladder where I'm suffocated with hugs and overwhelmed with questions.
"Omg are you okay?"
"Thank god your not hurt!"
"What happened?!"
Before I could answer any of them I hear a sarcastic comment from behind us, "I'm fine too, thanks for asking." Kayden growls.
Connor then releases me and tackles Kayden, engulfing him in a huge bear hug.
"I'm glad your okay."
"Connor; dude. No disrespect or anything but- get the fuck off me!"
"If you two love birds are done, we should go." Lucile says from behind me.
Ohh, sassy. I've taught her well.
"Yeah, I don't want to be around if or when they get out." Jaimie agrees.
"Wait- the looters or walkers?" I ask.
"Both."
"Touché." Connor pipes up beside me, finally letting go of Kayden.
"Let's go. We don't have much time to get a head start on these guys if they decide to follow us." Kayden commands.
"Okay. Let's go." I agree, taking off towards the truck.
Now, I just need to remember where we parked it.
