Chapter 1 - Caught at the Mall

~Mia's POV
"The pack surrounds its prey.".
That was all I heard through my headphones from an anonymous phone call and it was all I needed. I gave a casual look around where I stood and I noticed some people who definitely weren't there before.
I started walking, looking for the nearest clothe store.
H&M was the nearest around the corner. I called the first phone number on my calling log and a female voice answered.
"H&M, last stall on the right. Leave your card on the counter then go in. Leave with the bag and take your card with you." I nodded as the call ended and I started playing Demi Lovato songs on my phone as I followed the instructions.
I took out my purse and placed my credit card on the counter where a brunette woman nodded at me and started scanning items off of a list. I slipped into the dressing room stall where a dirty blonde woman waved me through with a "Have a good day" and a smile. I nodded and gave a smile in return.
Then I walked into dressing rooms. There were 12 stalls in total, 6 on each side and as I was coming in, a girl in her twenties and brown hair dyed blue and green in places bumped into me. I felt her hand slip into my pocket and slip out. "I'm sorry. I didn't see you." She gasped as she looked at me with doe eyes. I smiled and patted her shoulder.
"It's all right. I probably didn't see you either." She nodded and walked out. I slipped my hands into my pockets and my hands touched a piece of paper in my right pocket.
Wordlessly I walked into the last stall and locked the door behind me. I opened the note and read the contents.
I gritted my jaw.
Not another one. They just don't seem to quit. I'll send someone to pick him up.
I took a deep breath, crumpled the note and slipped it into my pocket. I changed into one of the outfits in the bag. A white shirt with a pencil skirt and some black heels. I looked at myself in the mirror. I was going to miss this look. I sighed and closed my eyes, concentrating on my new look. I felt something cold trickle down my body like someone was throwing ice cold water on me. Normally if people felt that then they would scream but it was something I was used to.
How am I used to this? When your kind is hunted down by everyone and you are called names that are better off not repeated, then it's better to learn how to hide and run when you have to.
I opened my eyes to find myself fact-to-face with a completely new look. Tall girl, pale skin, a touch of makeup, someone who was your boss's secretary. I slipped my glasses on and gave myself a smile.
This all took about 5 seconds, my newest record. I grabbed my bag and it was fashioned into a suitcase. I left the stall, looking like the secretary of your boss who had just come off a plane. I left the stall and nodded at the woman who waved me in. She was doing her lipstick when she saw me.
"Oh, um. Excuse me. There are some men out and about around the mall. They are trying to find someone but I think you should stay out of their way. Okay?" She looks at me sympathetically and I nod.
"Thank you." I reply, my voice sounds like Siri. 

Oh joy. People looking for Celaena Scarlet aka me. And better yet, I sound like the most annoying thing Apple created. I'm jumping for joy.

I walked up to the cash register where my receipt and my card waited for me. I took my receipt and card and slipped it into my purse. I walked outside and two men dressed in casual gave me a look.
They gave me a normal look, one of them nodding his head at me as a way of greeting while the other looked me up and down. Even though this normally happens with cocky men and some flirting, the men that this normally happened with were human and they didn't smell like this. They also didn't have this aura around them either, my gut and mind was yelling at me to run. To hide in a place and never be found.
I gulped and smiled at them while walking past them, with my suitcase in tow. They smiled at me and I immediately felt chilled to the bone. Because there were fangs pointing out of this gums.
Vampires.
