Running, she pounded through the never ending forest. She had to escape, but he was right on her tail. So close, she could feel his heavy breathes, hot and sticky, on her neck as she tried to weave a complicated trail. A fence appeared just ahead. A six foot escape that she could clear if she used all of her remaining strength.
Everything blurred, and the moment passed. She looked back to see him, the snarling wolf, on the other side of the fence. She, the elegant deer, tall and proud, was safe at last.
