When Casey made a run for it, I lunged at Juan. I stabbed at him, but he dodged. His knife flicked out and made a long cut on my cheek. I snarled and stabbed his arm. He fell over and landed in a pile of mops.

I turned around, ready to run to the police station, but something stopped me.

The knife drove deep into my back, puncturing so many things even I could not name. Juan snickered.

"Now who's laughing?" He whispers into my ear. With all of my remaining strength, I spun around and stabbed him in the heart. His eyes widened and he looked down at the silver blade in his chest. Without another word, he fell over.

Dead.

I let out a strained breath. I shoved the door open and staggered out of the closet. Blood trailed behind me as I left the school. It was still midnight, so no one was there. I should've known this would happen.

I had filled a journal with things people needed to know if I died. Recently, I placed a note in it, telling about how I was going to stop the murderer and that I may not return alive.

Going to the police would be pointless, I would die anyway. Smiling, I started walking to the one place I loved.

Surprisingly, I made it to the door of GameStop before I collapsed in a bloody heap.

An employee who was about my age was closing up the store and about to lock the door when he saw me. He gasped and ran over, kneeling down.

"Oh gosh" He swallowed. "Martha, there's a knife in your back!" I grinned weakly.

"I just stopped a murderer, Matt, why aren't you thanking me?" I ask with a raised eyebrow. He snorts.

"Even when you're about to die, you're cracking jokes." Matt mutters. Then, he smiles back and hugs me for the last time.

"Castiel's comin' for me" I mumble. At death's door, people say weird things. Matt starts laughing.

I look up at the starry sky

And everything goes dark

The last thing I hear

Is Matt's laugh
