"Hey Mom."
A bunch of yelling jumbles around on the other line. I pull my phone away from my ear for a second.
"This has been the longest since you've called! Do you know how worried I was?" My mother screams.
It was a long time. I had forgotten all about family and anything else but school and work after the day with Nile. That was two weeks ago. I should feel back to my normal self, but I just can't shake the man out of my head.
That's because you're attracted to him.
I shake the thought out of my head and look at the clock.
I roll my eyes. "I'm sorry, I just met a few people and got caught up with new experiences." That isn't a complete lie.
My mom squeals. "I think my depression has been depleted of. My sweet sweet daughter is meeting people! Are any of them boys? When can I meet him?!"
I laugh but stop thinking of Nile. "Um, no just the cafe friends and... Not really much."
Mom giggles. "Wait until I tell Jenny!"
I smile, glad that her 'friend' truly is an acquaintance of hers. "Well, I have to go, I'm meeting some friends tonight."
She sighs. "I'm so happy for you dear. But, be safe, okay?"
"Yes, I will as usual. Love you Mom."
"Love you too, dear."
I end the conversation. I didn't lie too terribly. Technically, the people I meet tonight will have turned into friends? I shrug it off. Time to dress.
I stand from my love seat, the only piece of furniture in my living room currently, and walk into my room. It is the only room I like so far. White walls, small walk in closet, an oak dressor with a matching headboard. My bedspread is a little rumpled, a scrunched up white laced thing. I enter my closet and pick out a deep red, mid thigh, skin-tight off the shoulder dress that I feel damn sexy in. I know I'm getting lucky tonight.
Smirking I roll on black garters and clip them on. My lingerie set matches; black lace and sexy. I wiggle on my dress and adjust it to cover the clips, barely covering my thighs. I walk to my dresser and grab a large black and maroon necklace that resembled costume jewelry and clip it on. After putting on a heavy smokey eye and deep red lips, I fluff my hair and feel satisfied. I look amazing, though I don't know why I chose to put so much effort into it.
I snatch up a black clutch and start to walk out the door as the umbrella catches my eye. I have a small smile on my face and I quickly make it go away as I walk out of my apartment building.
------------
The line isn't as long as it usually is, especially for a Saturday night. The club seems the same, I make a face while wondering. The night is exceptionally chilly and I rub my arms, biting my lip.
The line finally shortens and I'm third in line waiting. Then I notice there's a different security guard. Still a large, built man, but less, threatening looking. He lets a lady pass and stops the man after her. He pouts and crosses his arms.
Out of the corner of my eye I see a small limo pull up club. The driver gets out and opens the door to three men, all with hats covering their faces. The men quickly enter the club nodding to the guard and the door and behind them. I raise an eyebrow.
"Lady, you gonna go in or not?"
A rough voice broke my train of thought and the security man is huffing at me. A mumble a sorry and go into the club. The bartender is the same man as the past few times I've been here, Mark. He's a nice guy that will talk to if no one looks yummy enough here.
