Chapter 1
???'s PoV
(??? Because she just got to the place.)
I can't believe I'm here... I thought I was dreaming when the ice boy... His name was Frost I think... Told me there was a place I didn't have to hide my fire abilities. He's leading me to a large room with lots of people in it. A man is talking on a podium that looks like it's made out of water.
"And here is our new student now!" He smiles at me. "What is your power?"
"My power? You mean my ability with fire?" I look at him, mildly confused.
"Yes. Show me what you can do, please." He sends a wall of water around the area, probably protecting other students.
I bring my fire energy to the center of my focus, and start making shapes. I make a flower that falls into seeds, and everyone is captivated. I've been secretly practicing for a while. I turn the flames into a pair of wings that I use to fly around the area, staying away from the walls. Finally, I make a flaming sword and make it explode, vaporizing the water on contact.
"I've never seen a performance like that before... Your new name is Blaze." He steps down to shake my hand, and then steps back as my features start changing.
A mirror appears after my transformation is complete, and I'm surprised at what I look like. My eyes have turned smoky gray, my hair turned reddish brown, and I'm wearing an orange t-shirt, yellow pants, red socks, and black shoes.
"I guess I'm officially part of the Academy now." I shrug.
The man, who I think is the headmaster, nods. "We don't have many other people that can use fire like you."
Before he can continue, a group of five people shows up. Four boys and one girl smile at me and introduce themselves.
"I'm Aqua, and I use water." A boy with short, dark blue hair and eyes says to me.
"I'm Thorn, I control plants and that kind of nature." A boy with dark green hair and eyes smiles at me.
"I'm Stone. Earth. You seem like someone that has strong opinions." A boy with chocolate hair and eyes nods at me, then starts working on some sort of statue.
"I'm Shadow! I do stuff with shadows and illusions, and I'm a cat hybrid!" A girl with black hair, green eyes, brown cat ears, and a brown cat tail smiles at me, and leans in to whisper. "I like pulling pranks, especially on Shock. He'll be here soon. Almost everyone hates him."
The last person of the group smiles. "I'm Frost, remember me? Ice, brought you here?" I finally get a good look at him. Light blue eyes and hair, blue clothes except for white socks. He leans in and whispers to me. "I think you're cute."
I jerk back, blushing. I smell smoke, and notice the end of my hair is smoking. "I think I have some good friends here... And I figured out emotions trigger smoking hair."
A boy with black hair, light gray eyes, and a smirk walks up. "You pretty girl, real pretty. Blaze, right? I'm Shock, control the storm."
I fling a fire ball at his head, and glare at him. "If you want to hit me up, act a little more subtle. Anyway, I'm not that interested. You irritate me." I ask Shadow, "Is he always like that?"
She twitches her tail in irritation. "Yes, but he's even worse around girls he has a power advantage over. You might want to deal with him now."
I nod. "Hey, are we sharing a dorm? I don't want to end up with some water girl that hates my guts or something."
Shadow nods. "Yep! Been waiting for a fire girl I can live with. Hey, I think Frost has a crush on you."
The ends of my hair start smoking again. "I think I do too..." I swallow. "That wouldn't end too well though..."
Shadow yanks my arm, triggering a small fire from my fingers. "That hurt! Control Blaze! Let me show you around. No telling what classes you'll end up with besides fire and smoke, so I'll just show you everything."
I smile. "Reflexes. Haven't been able to control small fires like that since this incident with a bully in third grade, so yeah. Thanks. Show me Shock's room too. I want to prank him so bad!"
"You're just my type!" Shadow grins, ear twitching. "Let's go!"
