Garroth
Phoenix DropWe broke away from the kiss, scrambling apart from each other.
Her cheeks were red, and I hesitated before clearing my throat. "Come in!"
In walked Dante, and he just grinned.
I shot him a look, and he just ignored me. "We made food."
"I made food!" Jenna shouted. She huffed, walking in my door. "And Dante, that was rude!"
"Sorry." He fell silent, and his eyes darted back and forth between Aphmau and I.
"What?" She shrugged, swinging her feet off to the side of my bed.
Dante just grinned once again, then turned around and walked out of my room.
I rolled my eyes.
I got up, extending my hand to help her off my bed. "Are you hungry?"
She took it, smiling as I pulled her up. "Yeah."
"Then out my door you go." I hesitated, but put my hand on her lower back, pushing her out the door gently as I followed behind.
She laughed, and my shoulders felt lighter. Everything seemed to go in slow motion.
My eyes locked in on her as she smiled, her dark hair gliding over her shoulders. Her chin tilted upwards, and she looked truly happy, like how I saw her before Aaron died.
"So," Jenna cleared her throat, bringing me back to her senses. "I made eggs. And toast."
"Wow, it's not ramen, that's for sure." I grinned, turning my head towards Dante as he rolled his eyes. "Thanks, Jenna."
She smiled. "For sure."
"Anyways," Dante said, sitting down. "How was your day, guys?"
Aphmau snorted. "Well, I woke up hungover and..."
I glanced over to Laurance, who was staring at Aphmau. His gaze slowly drifted to me, and his expression was something I couldn't put my finger on.
Hurt?
Oh my god. Was Laurance hurt over Aphmau and I? Was he jealous or something?
"Garroth? Garroth!"
Suddenly I felt a pinch on my arm, and snapped out of it. I looked over to my right, and Aphmau was snapping her fingers.
"Yeah? Oh. Sorry. Kinda zoned out."
"Yeah, I know." She smiled slightly, rolling her eyes playfully. "Anyways, I'm going to bounce. I have a ton of homework."
She stood up. "Thank you so much Jenna. I was starving."
"Anytime!" She grinned from the counter.
Aphmau leaned down to my level, her mouth near my ear. "Swing by later."
She planted a soft kiss on my cheek, then grabbed her keys, and left.
"Wow!" Dante's eyes were practically bulging out of his head. "She likes you!"
I grinned. "Yeah."
Laurance stood up, suddenly growling under his breath. He pushed the chair over and walked towards the couch.
"Woah, dude. Calm it. What's wrong?" Dante stood up slowly.
"I don't fucking get it!" He hissed. "I've been trying with Aphmau even before Aaron. And as soon as her pretty little boyfriend dies, she goes to this.. this!" He motioned to me.
"What the hell is your problem?" I sighed. "She obviously isn't interested in you. You can't force someone to have feelings for you."
"Oh, fuck off, rich boy." He spat the words at me like they were daggers.
"Laurance!" Jenna moved from out from behind the counter and straight up to him. She shoved her finger into his chest, poking him hard. "Do not tell him to fuck off. Last time I checked, you didn't live here. If you're going to be here you might want to respect the people who actually live here. You are not going to pull this shit!"
"Oh, Jenna." He rolled his eyes. "Who are you, my mom?"
"Don't talk to her like that!" Dante swung an arm around Jenna's waist, pulling her to him. "You have no right talking to my girlfriend like that."
"You know what?" Laurance narrowed his eyes. "I--"
"No, you know what?" I stood up. "Get out."
Laurance looked shocked.
"You heard him!" Jenna lifted her chin. "Out!"
Laurance rolled his eyes. "Whatever."
"Come back when you stop being a dick." Dante huffed. "There's the door. Say hi to Travis for us."
Laurance slammed the door.
"Sorry about that." I said. "I didn't know he felt for Aph like that."
"He's always had a little crush." Dante shrugged. "He'll get over it."
"Thanks for doing that." I nodded to both Jenna and Dante. "If you didn't, he'd probably have hit me."
"Anytime, dude. I've known you forever."
"He was acting like a dick." Jenna crossed her arms, leaning against Dante more. "Whatever. He needs to grow up."
I shook my head. "Anyways, what are you guys doing tonight?"
"I don't have classes until 12 tomorrow, so I'm going to sleep in and finish some homework tonight." Jenna shrugged. "You two are more than welcome to stop by."
"I'll take you up on that," Dante smiled. "Garroth?"
"Actually, I'm going to head to Aphmau's." I said. "Thanks, Jenna, though. I'll come by sometime with Dante."
"Sweet." She smiled. "See you later, babe. I should get going."
"See you." He kissed her forehead. "I love you."
She laughed slightly. I stared to walk back to my room as I heard her speak softly. "I love you too."
I closed my door behind me, flopping down on my bed.
I shut my eyes, and all that was going through my head was her.
Her eyes. Her hair. Her face. Just a single thought of her made my heart go crazy.
I was falling too hard.
But sometimes I wonder if it was even enough.
