CHAPTER 2 - 9 DAYS OF FREEDOM LEFT

I guess I should tell you who I am, where and when I live and who else is in my family. Kind of boring stuff really but it will help me tell my tale. I am, Sean, age 12; I live in the hills of Haversack in the year 2430. My family consists of my mom, Bright, my dad, Big Sean and my two younger brothers, James age 11 and William age 10. Dad always says our family would have been bigger but William was so big when he was born he broke the mold. I also have assorted Aunts, Uncles and cousin. Our family clan is known as Chosen.

I had a dream last night that I had been thrown out of the clan because I had become a Witch and turned into a girl. Even though a girl should be the next family Witch it fell to me an uneducated boy to fill that role and I had to be a girl to do it according to my dad our clans Chieftain. Oh well I'll think about that later.

Right now I want to go fishing. I love the orange with black dot fish and would eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner if I could. As we live in the hills to go fishing is an overnight trip, which is a hardship for some but to me it is worth being away from hearth and home to catch them. Of course my mom and Aunts are having a fit that I wanted to leave for an over night trip when so many things need to be taught to me in the next 9 days so I have basic knowledge of the female part of my family's traditions for becoming the next Witch. But after last nights dream I don't want to have any thing to do with all of that.

I slowly and carefully hide everything I will need for my trip in a cave that only I can find and tell them, "Fine I'll stay...at for an hour." I figure after that I can tell them I have to relieve myself and then sneak off to do what I want. Maybe by the time I get back one of the Aunts will have had a baby girl and I can just go on the way I have been. Unless I can think of a better escape plan later.
