I laid on the hotel bed, bored. Despite the fact that I had slept till nine, I was still tired. The four of us had gone to a hotel and seemed to have fallen asleep instantly and stayed in bed much longer than we should have.
“How is it possible that I’m still tired?” Justin asked, his eyes drooping as his voice slurred. He had slept until ten.
“I dunno,” I said, sarcastically, “It has nothing to do with the beating you took and amount of walking we did.” Justin snorted, looking back up at the ceiling. He stretched out, toes stretching towards the floor. He no longer cringed every time he moved. Lila had done SOMETHING to his side so it’d heal faster, and it was.
I jumped at the sound of a fist rapidly pounding on the door. I looked over to Justin, making a face. “Who would want to talk to us?”
“I don’t know,” he sighed, “Probably just the people from the hotel.”
“Yeah,” I murmured. The person on the other side of the door rapped at the door again, a bit more violently this time.
Justin made a face and swung his feet to the side of the bed and the sound of impatient knocking filled the room. “I’m coming!” he yelled, getting up. He ran his hand through his hair and lumbered to the door. He peered through the peep hole.
“What the hell!” He yelled, stepping back, running his hands in his hair to flatten places out and adjusting his shirt a bit. The door flew open and the flying figure dropped a bobby pin on the floor. The girl panted and pushed a curl behind her ear. She wore a tawny shirt, skinny jeans and black combat boots. She slammed the door shut and locked it, put the chain on, and began sprinting across the room. Justin leaped in front of her and grabbed her shoulder making her entire body go rigid.
“What do you think you’re doing?” Justin asked in a curt voice.
“Havin’ a tea party- WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE I’M DOING!” She screamed, infuriated. Her cobalt blue eyes flashed red. She threw Justin’s arms off her shoulders and grabbed a chair at the other end of the room.
“You can’t just waltz in here!” Justin yelled back, blocking her path. He stared her straight in the eye, a sudden hardness coming to his face. “Are you staying with us?”
“Hell no!” She laughed in a nervous sort of way, throwing the chair over the bed and rolling over it herself. “Yours and Lila and Brook’s room linked?”
“Yeah-”
“Get them in here now!” Mist barked.
I knocked on their door. “Um, Mist kinda wa-”
“Why should we listen to you now?” Justin asked her, irritated. She shot him a glare.
Lila and Brook’s door burst open. “What is going on in-” Brook gaped at Mist who was shoving the back of a chair in door knob.
“Get in here, now!” Mist commanded. Lila burst into the door. Brook stood there a second, just staring at Mist.
“Are you coming back?” Brook asked, voice soft like a whisper and eyes hopeful like a child’s.
“Of course not,” Mist grumbled, looking over her shoulder. She dashed Brook and Lila in then closed and locked their door. Justin grabbed her wrist before Mist could hurry away.
“Then why are you here?” Justin asked, frustrated, running a hand through his hair. He had his eyes locked on her. For a second Mist looked at the ground, collecting herself as Justin’s hands slid off her wrist. Mist looked up.
