Chapter 1: The Move

I never actually thought that I would move to a big city, even though I'm named after a pretty big one. My name is Dallas, and being 15 and moving into a city like Las Angeles isn't going to be easy. I have to leave behind everything, my friends, the people in the town. I think that I'm going to miss Jessica the most, even though she doesn't know I exist. Many people know my name, mostly because of my mom; she works for this huge casting company. She hasn't always worked though, once my dad took off then she had to support me somehow. The reason that everyone knows her is because they just want to get an acting job, and then become famous. Since she's a casting agent, we have to move from small town Tennessee to big town Las Angeles. Now back to Jessica, she's been there since I was 6. We grew up together and know everything about her, and she knows almost everything about me. Except that I'm moving.

"Dallas!" my mom yells, "Get up or you're going to be late for school!"

I open my eyes to see the clock, "6:30". Great, now I'm going to be late for school, and the last day too. I have to tell Jessica today, it's not going to be easy, well, because I won't be here for her birthday. I think I'll tell her at the end of the day because that way we can enjoy the last day, together.

Jessica isn't just my friend, she's my best friend. That might seem like a little, but to be it's a lot. I'm mostly friends with people, but when I get to know you and we become close then we're still friends. When you become close as family to me, we're still friends. However, when you literally are my everything, then you could say that we're best friends. Before you say anything, no I don't have a crush on her. We're just friends, wait, and best friends.

The bell rings and I take my seat in math. My school isn't really good with math but mostly with sports. So Mrs. Hasmane doesn't worry about doing problems today, instead, we just talk about our summer.

"I'm going to the mud races, all by myself this time" Anna says. Gosh, I can't stand her. She moved here from New York City. She tries to act all southern but can't even say "ya'll" without using her rich girl smirk.

"I'm going to my grand mamma's house" Ross said.

By now, I'm about to doze off. I get that everyone is going somewhere, then coming right back to their houses. I'm leaving too, but not coming back. After the bell rang, it's time for lunch. I sit at the usual table with Jessica and Jeremy. We talk all about our school year and how it was, like the time where we dumped Kool-Aid on Mr. Racket's desk. Oh, and the time where we went to the dance and Jackie thought that the pizza was cheese and it was covered with spices. We had so much fun this year, and Jessica looked at me and said, "I can't wait to make next year the best." My heart almost stopped. I looked at her and said, "I hope you guys can make it an amazing year."

"What?" Jessica said worried.

"I'm... Well... I'm moving to Las Angles."

"You mean the big city in California?"

"Yeah that one."

I thought Jessie would kill me. She looked really angry at me and then, then her face lit up. "I'm going to miss you so much, but Dallas, thanks for being such a great friend." What? I just told her I'm moving and she acts fine about it? I thought she would get mad and yell at me or she would scream or something.

In science class, my last class, Jessica sits next to me. She looked at me and told me that she is really going to miss me. Then she gave me some pretty big news. "I'm moving too, next month to Maryland." I really couldn't believe it. Then I realized that's why she wasn't mad. We both have our phones so we can text, and I can use my mom's laptop to Video Chat her.
