So, his name is Jeff? Eh, it suits him. I haven't been able to stop thinking about him all morning. He flips really easily but he's actually kind of nice.

Police have been warning people about a killer on the loose after finding out about the murder next door. I was worried but I convinced myself that Jeff would be fine. The police seem to have no leads. They knew that I lived next door so asked if I needed someone to talk too or police protection. I assured them that I would be fine and that it seemed just like a random killing spree so it wasn't likely that I would get killed.

*Ring*

The break time bell broke me out of my thoughts. I stand up and walk out of class. I sit by an oak tree in the corner of the yard and start to read The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown.

A shadow suddenly loomed over me and I glanced up from my book. My ex stood right in front of me.

"Excuse me, your ego is blocking my light" I stated, trying not too laugh.

I felt a hard smack to the cheek. I put my hand to my cheek and felt a red substance. He slapped me so hard that blood came out... I'm going to make him pay. I stand up and get ready to punch him. I attempt to strike but get pushed back by a pale hand. Jeff. I look up and see Jeff stabbing my ex. My lips form a grin for a split second. Sirens can be heard in the distance and Jeff runs off.

Nathan sees me and runs over to me as the police arive. I act shocked and pretend to pass out.

                                                                           ~5 Minutes Later~

I feel a hand on my shoulder and slowly open my eyes. The hand on my arm belongs to a policewoman. She smiles at me and I slowly sit up.

"What happened?" I say in a soft voice, attempting to sound like I forgot.

"One pupil, who I believe was your ex partner, sadly got killed by a known killer" The policewoman replies.

"Oh, it's coming back to me now. W-was he going to kill me?" I ask.

"He targets random people, you just were in the wrong place at the wrong time, don't worry" she says.

"Can I go home? I'm a bit shocked and need a bit of rest" I say, acting like i'm in slight shock.

"Of course" The headteacher, who was also in the room, replies."I'll call you tomorrow morning to see if you are okay."

I nod as a thank you. The policewoman drives me home. I undress and flop into bed. I love my bed so much, it's so cozy.

I fall asleep...

I decided for a definite change of tense. I'm not used to writing like this but it taught me some things about writing. This chapter is also slightly shorter but I felt like this was a good time to end this chapter.
