I don't understand our purpose. The Angels' purpose. They say we are warriors of heaven, but are we really? Shouldn't we be protecting the gates of heaven and hell. Not off fighting some dragon to protect this puny planet.
Every thing our master, our God, has created is glorious, and yet he created mankind. The humans are a disgrace to their creator. I don't understand why he created them. I don't understand why he protects them.
All the humans have done is betray him. But yet He favors them over his loyal warriors. I and all these angels would give up our wings and while being for him. Well at least I would.
I don't tell Afriel or anyone this because it would be disastrous if they really knew what I thought. I'd be shunned for looking down upon God's work of creation, his ultimate masterpiece. I'd become an outcast.
The demon with the yellow eyes from my dreams tells me that I'm right. He asks me whether or not our Father really loves us.
"Why would you say that? Of course he loves us, he created us." I tell the demon.
"Do you really believe that?" He chuckles. "Then why does he sacrifice you for the children who have betrayed him. The same children who have committed evil and treason. That turn their backs to their Savior. Your Father has deemed them more worthy than you will ever be." Then the demon's laugher fills my head until I wake up.
I try ignoring his voice, but I end up doubting the truths I've been told. If they are even truths.
My mind is clouding from the recent dream I had before Afriel came to get me. My head still ringing with the demon's cold words. Does your Father really love you?
Afriel nudges me,"You ok? You aren't scared of the dragons are you?"
I shake my head of all thought of my dream. I put on a fake smile.
"Yeah right! Don't rub off on me just because you're scared. Don't worry everyone will be paying attention to me slaughtering the dragon, while you sneak off with you wings between your shoulders."
Afriel laughs punching me in the arm.
