Eat your breakfast, my mother said as she slammed down the bowl of cereal.
Milk spilt all over the floor.
My little sibling began to cry, as I dashed to get paper towels.
Wednesday's were the worst days ever to be around my mom, because it was payday, and she had to spend every penny on raising me and my siblings.
It wasn't fair, but she knew what kind of life she was signing up for.
At least that's my logic.
As I'm wiping up the milk, my mom groans in frustration.
Take your siblings to the park, she said.
Out of respect I said, yes ma'am.
My mother scrunched up her face when I said that.
--------

It was a cold day in Chicago, as I walked with my bundled up siblings. We were walking through an alleyway, when we heard commotion.
I shushed my babbling siblings. The three of them immediately snapped their mouths shut.
They knew the dangers of the south side.
When I looked towards the commotion, I saw something I wasn't expected to see.
Two kids around my age.
The boy, was smiling with what I thought was the most beautiful smile ever.
My mouth was gaped open.
The girl, her blonde hair wistfully picking up snowflakes, leaned towards him.
They kissed each other. On the lips.
Mother told me about our dad, but we'd never seen him.
Never before had I seen that kind of affection.
Maybe once or twice on T.V, but that's mostly pretend, right?
I stood there, my curiosity taking the best of me, when one of my little siblings tugged on my sleeve.
I looked down at her, her lip quivering.
I thought we were going to the park, she said.
I sighed, and lead them away from the scene I so desperately wanted to watch.
When I took one last look, they were gone.
Little did my twelve year old heart know, that his heart would equally be hurting as much as mine did, in a few days time.
