Kathy woke up from her nightmare, all sweaty. The pictures were still flickering on her eye, and for a second she reached her hand out to her brother; but he didn't wanted too. As smoke, he disappeared, leaving her all alone in the dark room. She felt her tears running down her cheek. Sobbing, she raised up from bed, and went to the window. The gatelights was tent, and she could see some few people still walking around. For a moment she wished that Finn would be walking out there, but after just seeing some neighbors she turned around, looked at her clock at her desk. The clock was almost four o'clock a.m.
She went back to bed, all cried out. With Finn in her mind, she went back to sleep...
"KATHY!" yelled her mother, Emma, and opened her door. "Kathy, you gotta' get up, the bus is gonna go in about... Oh, God, 15 minutes!" she said, and checked her clock at her arm.
Kathy took her cover over her head, and started to cry. "Kathy?" her mother said. She went to her bed and sat down. Emma stroke Kathy over her head, that was under the cover, but hugged her thight. "Kahty, what's wrong?"
She pulled her cover off, and looked in her mother's eyes. "Finn," she whispered. She regret it after just some seconds. Her mother raised up, and suddenly she got all strict. "Kathy, we've talked about this. We're not supposed to talk about... him." Emma walked out, faster than the wind itself, and closed the door. Kathy went up from bed, and walked towards the closet. She took out a par of jeans and a t-shirt. After that she went over to her bathroom; she took a qucik shower, put some make-up on and got dressed. When she was all finished, the clock was 08.23. "Fuck," she said stressed and ran down the stairs. "I'm gonna' take the car!" she yelled and took the keyes with her. She went over to the garage, opened up the door, which took a couple of seconds. She started the car, winked at her mother and drove off the sidewalk.
The clock got closer and closer to 08.30, and she stepped even harder on the gas. Her cellphone rang, and she looked at it unsure. Should she answer? The screen showed that her mother was calling her, and she thoguth she probably had forgotten something; she took the phone.
"Hi, mom," she said and gassed a little harder.
"Kathy, are you driving?" Emma said worried.
"Yes. Hold on, I'm meeting another car here," she said, and layed her phone on her thigh, turned the car around in a swing, and kept driving. Unfortunately, her phone fell down on the floor, behind the break- and another car came closer to her, driving like a crazy. She bend over, trying to reach her phone, while the car came closer and closer. Finally, she got her phone, hitting the break the hardest she could, turning her whole car in an U-swing. The other car honked the horn, and drove away. Kathy was still holding her hands on the steering; her hands were white. She took a deep breath, in and out, facing her fear she was sceard to death. Again, her mind rulled over to Finn; his whole body in the carwindow, the blood and his dead body in her arms. She felt the tear pressing, and looked down. She saw her phone was still on the line with her mom, and she took it up to her ear. "Mom," she said with a shaky voice. "Oh, Kathy, you're back. I was just making myself some coffee. Are you at school?" Kathy felt relieved that her mother hadn't been talking to her while the whole car scene had taken place. At the same time she felt kind of sad, that her mother had "left" her. "Uh, I gotta' go," Kathy said clumsy had hang up before her mother could say anything. She turned, layed her phone on the other seat and drove carefully to school.
When Kathy had parked her car, and arrived school, she ran to her class. The teacher hadn't come yet, therefor she had some times to find her books and talk some to her friends, Helen, Alex and Marlene.
"Hi, Kathy!" Marlene said in a happy tone. Kathy smiled weakly and sat down at her seat. "Uh-huh, guys. I need to talk to you Alex."
Alex looked up at her, nodded. Alexandra was the only one who knew the whole story about Finn and Kathy's family situation. Helen and Marlene knew some, too, but it wasn't much. Only that Finn was dead, and that Kathy's mom was a huge bitch.
