Hello, my lovelies! I hoped you guys enjoyed the last chapter! I'm trying to update more often and I'm currently working on Chapter 17 at the moment. I've been stuck on this chapter for quite some time, but I hope I'll be updating soon!
ATTENTION!! I'm looking for someone who can do a new story poster for My Light!! The previous artist did a great job and it's wonderful! However, it's the wrong size, therefore, I can't fit the whole image for the story cover and I'm sad none of you guys can see it. If any of you are interested in wanting to make a new poster, please contact me!!
ALSO, I wrote an explanation on why I haven't updated in so long at the end of this chapter. Please be sure to read it if you want.

Chapter 9: A Yearning Soul
Jeremy was walking in a beautiful open field that's located a few miles outside of Mystic Falls. The sky was dusk causing it to look like someone had painted in it. The sky was the like a canvas and it beheld one of those sights where you needed to share these special moments with someone. Jeremy's thoughts were plagued with a certain vampire girl whom he hadn't seen in ten years. Ever since that unfortunate day, his thoughts of Anna plagued his everyday routine. How is she doing? Does she miss me? Does she even think of me? He still remembered what her face looked like but he's forgetting all the details. Like, how wide does her smile go? What length was her hair the last time he saw her? All of Jeremy's thoughts seem to conjure up an image of Anna in the midst of the field. She was facing the sunset while Jeremy was behind her and even though he couldn't see her face, he knew it was her. He ran up to her and called out her name in desperation. Before she could turn around, Jeremy heard his sister's voice, "Jeremy! Wake up! We're going to be late for school!"
Jeremy groaned and rubbed his eyes to find they were damp with his tears. Distracting himself from the empty feeling within his heart, Jeremy quickly got ready for school and thought about what he needed to do for the day. However, like every other morning, his thoughts drift to the first person that comes to his mind every time: Anna. His Anna. Oh, how he missed her. He was well aware that they are mates, however, after ten years of separation, Jeremy couldn't help but think what it would mean for their relationship. It was very different back then and every moment they spent together was still fresh in his mind. His heart was filled with sadness and longing. He could feel his soul calling out to her, grieving. He had in mind that today was the date when she and Klaus left Mystic Falls. Jeremy still kept his promise; he didn't mention anything and still looked out for Caroline to that day.
As for Caroline... Well, she yearned for siblings but since her parents divorced many years ago it was futile. Luckily, she had Jeremy. He and Caroline were very close while growing up together and he was like the little brother she never had. Though there were times where he acted like an older brother by being protective, looking out for her, and guiding her constant "emptiness," which really meant the emptiness of her soul.
When Jeremy was growing up, he was able to endure a bit more with the absence of his mate rather than Caroline. Jeremy had his moments just like Caroline did. To Jeremy, he wondered if it was easier not knowing Anna as his mate while she's away; however, he would take one look at Caroline and in an instant, he took back the thought. Looking at Caroline and being reminded of what she went through flooded Jeremy with guilt, but he would prefer to go through the pain of knowing that she was away rather not know at all.
He tried his best to keep Caroline in check over the years. For so long she attempted to do reckless things like getting into cars with strangers or starting fights with other girls in school, hoping that there would be some sort of satisfaction coming out from it, and many other things that Jeremy did not want to think about. There was once a night that Jeremy did not want to repeat. He wanted to tell her about Klaus and the solution to her emptiness, but he knew it wasn't in his place to tell. Only Klaus could do that now and he would give Jeremy hell if the truth were to come out from somebody else's mouth.
