Chpt. 1: The Calm Before The Storm

Birds tweeted a sweet, peaceful melody that awoke Ally in a warm way. After hearing lots of the beautiful melodies, she finally sat up in her bed and did a much needed stretch. She knew today would be a good day, she planned for today to be a good day. It was the day before the best romantic holiday, so that was another thing to keep her mind at ease.

Once she was showered and dressed with her school things, Ally waltzed down the stairs just in time as her mother had finished cooking breakfast.

"Well someone is in a very cheerful mood.", Her mother hinted towards her waltz, "Good morning dear." Then proceeded to give Ally a kiss on the cheek and set the plates with food.

Ally sat at the counter, chin in her hands with a big smile on her face. "Good morning and how can I not be mom? It's Friday and tomorrow is a special day!" She threw her hands up in excitement still gleaming.

"Yes I know. Do you have any special plans?"

"Ohh I might have a few snuck up my sleeve, but we'll see how it goes."

"Well as long as you're safe with whatever it is, have all the fun you want." Mrs. Hewlett had placed the food filled plates in front of them and sat across the counter from her daughter to dig in. "Eat up sweetheart, you don't want to be late for school."

Students filled the hallways, opening lockers and chatting away nonsense. There was only another twenty minutes left before the bell rung for first period so Ally didn't have to be quick as usual about getting her supplies. As she was getting out her last two notebooks, two big hands covered her eyesight for just a moment.

"Guess who?"

"Hmm. Justin Timberlake?"

"You wish! Try again."

"Umm..Albert Einstein?"

"I think I'm pretty much alive little lady. Once more at it."

"Ooh I know! Bruno Mars!"

A moment later the young girl could see again and turned to meet a sad face with pouting lips and crossed arms.

"Oh, it's only you Derek. I thought you were someone important."

Now the sad face had a mouth hanged open in shock.

"I'm only kidding! ..Maybe Hehe."

"Yeah yeah, you know you're stuck with me forever and ever and EVER!"

"Well, that just makes our relationship thirty times better."

The happy couple ceased their talking with a precious, warmhearted kiss.

It wasn't long until they both heard muffled giggles that they broke away while Derek entwined their hands; leading them to class.

"A-ha! Look Tonya, she's walking away from us! Poor dork!", Chloe blurted out.

Steve was next to make his booming statement. "Man, I feel sorry for you Derek! You've got guts to keep the freak of nature so tamed!"

Ally and Derek continued to walk hand-in-hand to class. Derek calmly whispered in her ear, "Pay no mind baby, tomorrow will be a different story for us."
