Max could have had any girl he wanted. So why did he chose the quiet stoner girl? One reason, and one reason only. Because he saw her differently.
Max Comwell was known as The Charmer. The Bad Boy. The guy that every girl wanted. Every girl except for Carrie Steffens. She didn't care about anyone outside of here cloud of smoke. Her best friend was pot. And a lighter replaced her family. Carrie's spiral down cannabis road started at the death of her mom. The only person who actually gave a fuck about her. Not yet recovered from the loss of her mom, Carrie was thrown into a foster home without hesitation. Imagining to find a house full of kids already, she was surprised to find out there was only one other kid, and he was the foster mom's son Max.
Max is skeptical about Carrie living with him and his mom at first but soon realizes he doesn't mind it, but actually enjoys Carrie's company. Although he doesn't realize it till later, he is starting to fall in love with Carrie, his soon to be adopted sister.
Carrie doesn't pay much attention to Max in the beginning, knowing his bad boy ways already. So she focuses on something else. Weed.
Throughout the story, Max tries to help Carrie quit smoking pot and get her back on track. She tends to push him and everyone else away. But eventually let's him in, when he tells her how he feels about her. She then realizes she has liked him this whole time too, she just didn't want to admit it.
