Chapter 9

Oh look it's been about three-ish months.

"Hello Sasuke dear, just in time, dinner's almost ready- oh! You brought along a friend? How wonderful! Karin, Suigetsu, and Juugo just left by the way."

A fair-skinned woman with long, straight black hair and black eyes came out of the kitchen, holding a plate a food. She wore a simple dark purple blouse with a red skirt and a light yellow apron over it. When she saw Sasuke and Sakura, she greeted them both with a friendly smile.

"Hello Mrs Uchiha, my name is Sakura Haruno. It's a pleasure to meet you. Here, let me help you." Sakura replied while taking the plate from her.

"Oh oh, there's no need for the formalities Sakura! Call me Mikoto, it's a pleasure to meet you too."

"She certainly is a very nice person, just like what he said. But what about-"

"Mother, where's father?" Sasuke inquired, unwittingly interrupting Sakura's inner thoughts.

"Father will be here shortly. He's in his study, sorting out documents from work." Itachi emerged from the kitchen.

Sasuke nodded in understanding as he, his brother and the other two women took their seats.

Awhile later, A middle aged man with short, brown hair and onyx-coloured eyes came down the stairs. He wore a simple kimono with grey pants which had the same fan symbol on the back like Sasuke's flannel.

As he took his seat at the table, Sakura visibly gulped. Seeing this, Mikoto decided to speak.

"Fugaku dear, this is Sakura Haruno. Sasuke invited her over for a school project."

"Hn."

"Thank you Mikoto." Sakura internally thanked as she started to eat.

"..."

"Wow. This is really good food." She noted. Mikoto smiled.

"Ah, thank you Sakura! You know, Sasuke here talks about you quite often."

This caught Sakura's attention.

"Oh? What does he talk about?" She questioned.

"Well, he likes to say that you-"

"Mom..." Sasuke warned, earning chuckles from Itachi.

"Oh right. Since Sakura's in your class, does she have any problems with... you know who..." Itachi inquired him.

Sasuke closed his eyes took in a deep breath, making it sound like the person Itachi was talking about was a like a bad luck charm to say in the compound. Fugaku and Mikoto looked at each other and then turned their eyes to Sasuke. Sakura, on the other hand, was straight up confused.

"She... She gives us some problems every now and then... Especially to Sakura."

"Who are you talking about?" The pinkette asked, still not getting any of this.

"Ms Ino Yamanaka."

"Oh."

"Oh my, she's giving you kids problems too? That's unfortunate. I still remember that one time she came over. Since her father, Inoichi Yamanaka, works under the Uchiha Police Force, he comes by to the house sometimes for work. And on very unfortunate days, he brings his daughter with him." Mikoto said with disgust.

"His daughter has problems. Always wanting to see Sasuke, Sasuke this, Sasuke that. It's really really most unpleasant." Fugaku spoke up.

Itachi continued. "And on some more unfortunate days, she invites herself into the house on her own accord and then decides to stay for dinner. Naturally, we have to put up with her and her attitude. Which is even more of an issue-"

"-than Shino Aburame bringing his bug collection to school." The younger Uchiha finished.

Sakura shivered at the memory. Shino once bought his collection of bugs to school and a certain blonde knucklehead decided to open the latch which kept the bugs in. Having bugs running around the school was bad enough, but finding a giant beetle on her locker door and fruit flies in her lunch was the last thing she wanted to go through again.

That was not a pleasant day.

She nodded in agreement.

"But don't you worry Sakura. If Ino does anything to you, come tell us. Think of us as your second family okay?" Mikoto assured her. The pinkette gave her a big smile and nodded.

For the next one and a half hours or so, they all chatted about everything that had happened. Itachi told the two high schoolers about his recent date with one of his relatives, Izumi Uchiha, telling them that she had made him a giant dango pastry for him and that it took him several days to finish it all on his own. Sasuke and Sakura laughed. Sakura smiled and looked at the family seated around her, she was happy to find such lovely people and internally thanked Sasuke for it.

Mikoto looked outside the windows behind her, her eyes focused on the bright full moon up in the star-filled sky.

"My, it's getting pretty late. Why don't you stay the night Sakura dear? We have an extra room upstairs and I don't think Sasuke would mind company." The woman suggested, earning a nod and a small smile from Sakura and an unreadable expression from her son.

Sakura dragged herself up the stairs as she closely followed Mikoto. She was led to a bedroom that looked fairly similar to her own, except the bed was a lot bigger and the colours were ranging from a beige to a mahogany brown.

"My room is just down the hall, tell me if you need anything. There's already a toothbrush in the bathroom. I'll phone your parents, goodnight dear." Mikoto walked back to her room.

The pinkette admired the room and sat on the bed. She looked over to the doorway and saw Sasuke leaning against it. He tossed what looked to be a shirt onto her bed.

He gave her a smirk. "My room's directly opposite yours. So if you happen to feel lonely or anything..."

A pillow collided with his face a few seconds later.

"It's alright Sasuke. Okay I wanna sleep now, see you." Sakura chuckled.

"Why you-"

"SEE YOU SASUKE!"

SLAM

The boy sighed behind the door. "Gosh, she's more troublesome than Karin! However, that's what make her cute- wait what?"

Unknowing to Sasuke, Mikoto was leaning against her doorframe, having witnessed everything.

She flashed the signature uchiha smirk and clapped her hands together.

"I approve. Now, just to get them together..."
