"Hi Babe!" Cole said with a bright smile across his face as you finally appeared through the automatic doors of Arrival in the airport pulling your favourite coloured suitcase behind you, your backpack of the same colour was over one shoulder.
"Hiii." You said with the same bright smile seeing him, he walked to meet you through the other people who were meeting their friends and family. You dropped your backpack carefully to the floor beside you where you'd stopped pulling your suitcase. "How was your adventure?" He asked, "amazing." You said.
Wrapping your arms around him tightly your face nuzzled against his neck taking in his touches, his scent and just finally being with him again. "I missed you, so much." Coles voice was soft as you embraced each other. "I missed you, too." You said with somewhat of a muffled voice against his sweater.
You had been in New Zealand for almost a month exploring and having an adventure, an adventure you had been planning for a long time. You wanted Cole to come with you but he had other things he couldn't miss in America.
You both shared several quick kisses and Cole laughed softly. "Sleepy babe?" He asked seeing you yawn again for the third time in two minutes, you nodded.
"Little bit." You said not denying it, watching as Cole put your backpack over his shoulder,
"Come my little jet lagged traveller, our Uber awaits." He put his arm around your shoulders, pulling you against him and kissing the top of your head, pulling your suitcase behind with his other hand.
You had been travelling back to America for fifty-two hours, your journey started in Wellington, but you had a twelve hour layover in Auckland, before being able to fly home.
"What day of the week even is it?" You glanced around the airport as you left it. "Sunday." Cole laughed, watching you as you both stepped outside.
The morning November air was crisp and the goosebumps rose on your exposed skin the sleeve of your grey cardigan pushed up. "Here, take my jacket." Cole said as the Uber driver put your suitcase into the trunk, "oh – no I'm fine." You assured Cole, "are you sure?" He raised his eyebrow giving you the stare.
"Mmm-hmm," you nodded, "feels nice the cool air." You yawned again, crawling into the Uber with Cole. "Here I thought you had adapted to the warm weather over there and wouldn't know what to do with yourself." Cole laughed, his arm slipped around your shoulders in the back of the car now driving you home.
"I never know what I'm doing with myself." You laughed, your eyes closed more then they were open, as you tried staying awake in the moving car, your hand had reached up and found Coles hand that was resting on your shoulder – your fingers both laced together, your head rested against his shoulder.
Getting back to the flat, you left your luggage by the door went downstairs to use the washroom and wash your face feeling like airplane grim was on you.
Coming back upstairs from the washroom, you had tried slapping the tiredness from your self, seeing Cole on the couch you grinned walking over, he was sprawled across the couch.
"Hey." He looked up from the television, his eyes watching as you crawled up the other end of the couch and up to snuggle into him, his legs on either side of you, you had wrapped your arms around him and your head was resting on his mid-chest.
"Comfy?" He asked, finding you adorable as you glanced up from your position and nodded. "Very." You flashed him a grin.
"That's good. I've missed you contorting yourself into awkward positions that usually crush my balls." He admitted honestly and you laughed.
"Sorry, sorry." You shifted a little bit and in the process grabbed a throw blank pulling it over you and him.
"Happy to be home?" Cole asked, as you felt his fingers starting to run through your hair slowly. "Happy I'm glad with you." Your eyes were closed as you enjoyed the feeling of his fingers through your hair. "Missed you." You added, trying to stop drifting off.
"I missed you, too." He said, "but you had fun, right?" He hadn't asked you much about it in the car because he knew you were exhausted. "Amazing fun." You snuggled your face into his sweater, "are you falling asleep on me?" He asked amused, finding it even more adorable how tired you were. "No." You said opening your eyes and holding them open wide ... Until they started closing again slowly.
"Just go to sleep (Y/N)." He laughed softly. "No, no. I wanna spend time with you, it's been too long." You moved a little bit.
"I'm not going anywhere, I mean – I can't, can I? You've got me trapped." He laughed.
"Babe?" He asked, glancing down seeing your eyes were closed, your lip was pouted out just a little bit and your breathing had slowed. "Awh." He whispered, his hand came to your upper back, resting there as Cole picked up the remote, turning the television off.
He wormed his way down a little on the couch, his head finding a pillow and he closed his own eyes.
Falling into a content sleep, he hadn't slept the best while you were away, he missed you being beside him when he woke up, snuggled up to him as it got cold in the mornings.
Now that you were back, sleeping against him - he was happy, his life was completely whole again.
