"calloway, where did you go? i was worried sick, i thought you were in your room," his mom stopped sweeping, and bombarded him with questions as he walked through the door.

"mama, i was just with nixon." he shrugged his shoulders, he didn't see why couldn't hang out with the one person who enjoyed being around him.

summer looked down and sighed, and put down the broom "alright, sweetie just go to bed now make sure to be quiet because your father is asleep."

calloway watched her with sad eyes, she looked so tired. bags under her dull eyes, she wore what seemed to be a permanent frown with a healing bruise on her cheek. he hated it.

"okay mama," he tiptoed up the stairs making sure to make as little noise as possible

calloway laid in his bed he wondered why his mom looked so disappointed in him. should she be happy he finally made a friend? he did not known nixon for long, but calloway knew that he made him happier than anyone ever did.

nixon loved red like him. he loved color, and color never came around often.

honestly nixon's whole aura attracted calloway, he seems so happy, bubbly, and kind. none of the kids were kind to calloway. he was going to keep being friends with nixon until the end. calloway would always follow nixon's bright red boots.
