Chapter 3

After I had said my thank you's and goodbyes to Grillby I set Echo on my hip and followed the skeleton out the door, he said his home wasn't too far.

The cold prickled at my skin so I huddled Echo closer, his ears twitched and he gripped my shirt in his small hands.
The skeleton came by my side, turning his attention to me, "what's your name?" I glanced over at him, "(y/n)" "cool, I'm G, who's the kid?" I hugged Echo closer, "my son, Echo." He nodded, "where's the father?" My eyes widened in disbelief and shock, he was so blunt! "He's gone. Echo's mine." I snarled out the last part unintentionally, he raised his hands in surrender, "no need to get snappy," he glanced over at Echo, asleep in my arms, "your really protective of him, aren't you?" I stared right ahead, "you would understand if you knew what I went through."
He perked up like he just remembered something, "I forgot to tell you, but my girlfriends at my house too,"
"Does she live there?"
"Nah, she just comes over often," he continued, "her name is Elizabeth, and she can be snappy to new people."
I nodded, though hesitant, "she sounds just splendid, hun"
He stopped walking and glanced at me in slight shock, "hun?" I nodded, "I'm mentally older than you" he chuckled, "what does that mean? How old are you, anyway?" My chest puffed out with pride, "I'm twenty, you?" He shrugged, "twenty also," he looked over at your son, who was cuddled into your hip, "how old is he?" I shifted Echo's weight, "five, why?" We kept walking, "isn't he supposed to be in school by now?"

I glanced at Echo, his blonde hair was long and silky, flowing gently in the wind, I couldn't see his eyes as they were closed, but I could imagine the red sparkle they always seemed to have.
G waited for my answer, my voice rang out in barely a whisper, I didn't even know if G had heard me, "... We weren't able to, the White Masks taught us though, it was so advanced.."
He looked at me question, "White Masks?" I shook my head, "nothing you need to know," I shrugged and looked away,

"their all dead anyway..."
