Chapter 17•I Fell and No One Caught Me

Ryder's POV

I woke up with my arms around Scarlet. Her soft warm breath was on my neck and I was warm. I pulled her body closer, not wanting her to leave. She stirred a little bit, so I froze. I looked at her features. Her eyelashes were incredibly long and here lips were plump. Her nose was the perfect size for her face. I just wanted to ki-

"Why are you staring at me?"

"Would you really like to know?" I smirked. She fluttered her eyes open and squinted from the morning light shining through her curtains.

"No" she backed away and stretched. Her legs were intertwined with mine. She looked at me and smiled.

"I wanted to kiss you" I said.

"Morning breath, dude" she laughed. She got up and walked to the door.

"I'm going to make breakfast" she yelled. I watched her butt as she walked down the hall. I'm such a perv.

I got up from the bed and pulled up my sweat pants. They were loosely hanging onto my hips and I wouldn't be surprised if Scarlet drooled over them. I ran my hand through my hair and proceeded to walk downstairs.

"Hey," I said. I wrapped my arms around her waist and looked over her shoulder. She was cooking bacon.

"Hi" her sweet voice made me excited.

"What are you making?" I asked while sitting down at the island.

"Bacon, eggs, and toast unless you don't like tha-"

"It's fine, Scarlet," I chuckled. She was so nervous all the time.

"Okay," she whispered.

"I am going to go take a shower," she said placing her plate into the sink.

"Can I join?" I winked.

"No," she said with blush creeping onto her face.

"Your loss..." I said while putting my plate into the sink.

"Are you good? Do you need anything because I will get you-"

"I'm fine," I said "I think I am going to leave to get my clothes at my house."

"Oh o-okay," she looked down and played with her fingers.

"What's wrong?"

"N-nothing, but I was going to ask if you could stay because I have clothes for you," she said.

"Why do you have guy clothes?" I growled.

"Brother," she laughed.

I shrugged and followed her to her brothers' room. She pointed to some drawers and walked out. "I don't want to know what he stores in those drawers so..." she said.

I opened the first drawer and found boxers. Nice, my size. I also got some jeans and black shirt. It smelt good so all I did was run a hand through my hair and put on the clothes. I walked out of the room and sat in her room until she was done taking a shower. She wanted me to stay, so I would stay.

Scarlets POV

I sat in the bathroom after my shower. I looked at my phone and I got a text message that made my heart hurt.

From Jessica:

Hey Scarlet, looks like you aren't the only one that Ryder wants to be with.

Attached is a picture of Ryder kissing Jessica on the cheek. My brother doesn't know about Jessica, but I could care less about that. Ryder kissed Jessica behind my back. I feel betrayed. I feel lonely.

I fell into a world called 'love' and no one ever caught me.

Ryder's POV

I had been sitting here for like 15 minutes on my phone just waiting for Scarlet. Either she takes really long showers or is ignoring me. I went to the door to hear if the water was running. I heard sniffling and mumbling.

"Scarlet?"

"L-Leave me a-alone"

"What's wrong?" I just wanted to comfort her. The door was locked.

"You," she mumbled.

"What did I do?" I asked. I honestly didn't know.

"Y-You," I heard her sobs get harder and it made my heart break.

"Open the door Scarlet"

"N-N"

"Open the door, please" I begged. I sat against the door and held my face in my hands.

"You h-hurt me R-Ry" she stuttered and sobbed more.

"Can I please know what I did?" I asked angrily. Who made her mad?

"You kissed Jessica, you jerk!" She opened the door and kicked my back.

I stood up and grabbed her wrists before she started hitting me. Her face was puffy and red from tears. Her shirt was wet from her tears. Her hair was knotted. She looked horrible.

"Why would you do this?" She yelled at me. She struggled to get her wrists out of my hands.

"I didn't kiss Jessica!" I shouted.

"Then why did she send me a picture of you kissing her?"

"Are you really that credulous, Scarlet?" I spat. I didn't mean this.

"N-No, what was I supposed to think?" She looked at me with her green eyes.

"Why would I do that to you?" I asked.

"I don't know, but if would've I would hate you forever," she explained while burying her face into my chest.

I wrapped my arms around her waist and pulled her into me. Her body shook with sobs as I tried to soothe her. I hadn't kissed Jessica since the park incident. She was a terrible kisser.

"I'm sorry," she murmured.

"It's fine," I said while wiping a tear off of her red cheeks.

"Do you still want the kiss?" she asked.

"If you do," I smiled a whole smile.

With that, she leaned in and pecked my lips gently.

"Can I tell you something?" She spoke quietly.

"Of course"

"I like you"

With those three words, I kissed her with everything I had.
