Year 1986
Their lives were put
In the very hand
Of a machine
Created by man
Made reckless by previous delay
No more waiting
Not one more day
Risking their lives
To fly
The pale
Blue sky
Dreams of soaring
Where no man
Or woman
Or teacher
Has gone before
The rush of going up
And up and up
Made them forgetful
Thus, better judgment
Was dropped on the floor
Left to lie there alone
She was too expensive anyways
Oh, how I wish it had been different
Dreams were shattered
In a blast
A blinding flash
No survivors
Onlookers could only gasp
At the death of explorers
So horrible, oh, how horrible
Not even a chance to escape
"Obviously a major malfunction"
Happened January, the 28th
The victims are now sleeping
In the skies forever
Because of year 1986
May we never forget,
Their memory
