[Prologue]
"Run. Come on, Ally. Just keep running."
I want to stop, but I know that's not a choice. It's not an option, not if I want to live, if I want HIM to live.
He pulls harder at my hand as we near an alley. The shadows hide us from what we are running from, but we know it's only a short while until the man finds us.
We both try to keep our breathing to a minimum, afraid that the slightest movement or noise will give us away. Make us a direct target.
"Ally, give me your hand. It's going to be ok. You'll live through this."
"No, stop that. Stop speaking that way, like you're not going to make it."
I don't want to face him, see those beautiful golden eyes. But I do, I have to. And when I do, I wish I hadn't but am glad I did. Those sad, broken eyes look at me with hope, love. That's when I know I'm about to break down, but I mustn't.
"Give me your hand, Al."
I do. He presses something small and cold in my hand. I look down and see that it's a gold locket; I barely noticed the intricate design on it, its beauty. These were a rarity, considering they stopped making these years ago.
"W-what is this?"
"Shh... Keep this, and don't let anyone find this. No matter what happens, keep it safe. You understand?"
I frantically nod, still confused. He swiftly hides it under my jacket.
Then, he leans down and kisses me. This kiss was different from other ones. This kiss felt desperate, like it was going to be our last one.
Right then, we both broke free. We were finally caught. The Alpha found us.
"Ally, my dear, move. NOW!"
"No. You can't do this. This has to stop."
Two of his men pinned me to the wall. I tried. I really did. I tried screaming and fighting with my every strength. I knew it wasn't enough. I couldn't see what was happening, but I heard it.
I heard the clicking of a gun.
And that's when I heard his last words.
"Ally, please, try to remember."
Finally, I heard the gun go off. I was then let go, and run towards my one true love, crying. I knew it was too late. I stand up, walk towards the Alpha of my pack with such hate and revulsion.
And with as much venom, I spat, "I hate you."
He looked down at me, gently touched my cheek, and said, "Now, Ally. That's no way to speak to your father."
He pulled his hand back and slapped me hard. That's when I fell. I allowed darkness take over me. I welcomed it.
No more lies.
No more alliances.
No more Alphas or Rogues.
No more him.
No more....
