2. "You look pretty funny..."

"Allyson, Tyler's been waiting for you."

I stare at my mother, and then back at Tyler. I see him walking towards me with a huge grin on his face. Maybe after talking to him and spending more time with him, it will all come flooding back at me. It has to.

"Ally, my love, you look beautiful."

"Um... Thank you, Tyler."

"Mrs. Bane, if I may please have a dance with Allyson."

Internally, I rolled my eyes. His manners towards my mother and me feel staged, like that's what he's supposed to say.

"Of course, silly! You don't need to ask! She is your fiancé after all!"

And with that, my mother leaves me. I see her walk through the crowd, probably to look for my father.

Tyler pulls me towards the center to dance, both knowing that that is where everyone expects us to be tonight. The couple with the Forbidden Love. He gently places a hand on my hip, and takes my other in his soft hand. For some reason, this feels awkward and, again, staged; it's almost like our bodies don't know each other. If he's my mate, we're supposed to fit perfectly. Right? If my memory can't remember him, my body should react towards him, but it didn't. And, once again, I was disappointed.

"So, Tyler..."

"Mmm, yes, Allyson?"

"Since I can't remember much of how we met, and everyone swears we're madly in love, I was thinking. Maybe you can remind me? Tell me how we met. Our first kiss. Our special meeting place. Our..."

"Woah, woah, Allyson. Slow down, one question at a time."

I looked up at him. Was that uncertainty I saw in his eyes? Right when I saw he was about to answer me, he was interrupted. Of course he was.

"Ally! Ally!"

And of course it would be Holly. She had this unreal glow to her. Her eyes looked distant, unfocused.

"What is it, Holly? Are you okay?"

"Ha! Of course I am. Come, come. You need to come."

I looked up at Tyler to apologize, but he was willingly pushing me to go with Ally. Huh... Odd.

Holly was pulling me upstairs, and guiding me towards one of our guest rooms. As I walk in, I see a group of people around a low lit candle. When we walked in, they didn't even look up right away. Right when I turned to Holly to ask her what she was so frantic about, I saw her passed out on the floor. One of the guys I knew as Todd lazily stared at me.

"You know, you look pretty funny.... Haaa!"

Right when I was going to snap at him for saying that, I saw his neck twist at an unnatural angle. I began seeing him shift, but it seemed he was stuck. He was stuck between his human form, and his wolf form. From the looks of it, he was in immense pain.

"Aaaaaah! *Grrr* Help me! Please! Stop this pain! NOW!"

One of the other guys looks at him and laughs.

"Hey, Joe, look at Todd scream. Hey, man. It's gonna be okay."

"STOP. THIS. NOW."

I quickly make my way towards Todd. I try to see what's going on.

"Holly! Wake up! Holly, please! Guys, snap out of it!"

But, I then see them staring into nothingness. I see their blank stares. I then realized it got eerily quiet. I look down with horror at Todd. He is slumped at an odd angle, but his eyes, though. His eyes were blank; the pain and pleading that was once there is gone. I cry silently. I didn't know Todd, but it's a young life that has been lost. A person, a wolf, a brother that has been lost. When someone from your pack dies, your wolf feels it; it was the loss of a family member.

I then realize there's a small tube in Todd's lifeless hand. My stomach begins to feel uneasy, and my throat tightens. I automatically recognize what it is.

"A-ally? What's-s g-going on?"

"Holly, Todd is dead."

"... W-what?! What d-do you m-mean T-todd is d-dead?!"

Her eyes fall on Todd's lifeless body, and gives a loud scream. She knows what happened. She realizes that that could have been her had she taken more.

Todd died of an overdose that night from this lethal drug, Static.
