The Game Begins

The demon came closer, but I couldn't move. The eyes were real and colored mahogany instead of fake and colored with lead. Making it easier to fall under the trance of his gaze.

It got halfway to me before I realized the gap between us is becoming nonexistent. I was able to force my eyes to look at his nose and I was able to take a step back.

The thing froze and a smirk of curiosity, "I was hoping to continue just a few steps further." He sighed in disappointment, "It's appears you became aware of what was happening." His eyes turned pink with fuchsia swirling in them. "I'd never imagined it would be so easy to put an angel under a spell. However, you are quit young."

I wouldn't want to respond to him even if I could. I can't look at him in the eye, I can't speak otherwise he'll make me start playing his game, and I can't think.

Undertaker, a reaper that I don't know, is playing favors with a demon.
But why?

The portal is sealed off, or so he said it is. I can't just take off because that would obligate him to "play" but I need to see if what he said was true, "Did you make a pack with Undertaker?" I kept my voice strong.

"What makes you think that?" He teased.

"Answer me, demon." I demanded the best I could.

His face twisted with dark amusement, "You and I both know that you're weak compared to me. I suggest you don't start demanding answers." The warning was true and serious, but I need to know if Undertaker is a traitor to the reapers.

I didn't demand this time, "I just need to know."

"Well," he smiled, "since you asked so nicely, I'll tell you this one thing." He pulled his glove off of his cursed hand, "Undertaker has his own plans," his pentagram glowed brightly in the night, "and I have my own."

I knew what was about to happen, so I jumped away quickly and headed towards the sky. I used my second power, a portal opener, and blasted it. Thinking that the portal was opened, I flew to the spot in the clear sky but I didn't fly through it. It felt like I flew directly into a wall at full speed causing me to whipper in pain before I crashed to the ground.

I didn't become paralyzed or damage a wing, but I could see cuts on my arms from the dead tree branches that I hit before I hit the ground. Also, I can feel a small bruise/bump on the right side of my forehead from the impact of the closed portal.

He wasn't lying.

"Ah, little one." The demon called.

I turned to sit on my butt and faced the creature, but once I moved my left foot pain traveled though my body. The pain from the fall counteracted to pain of my ankle, it's broken. Not caring about my white dress, I backwards butt-scooted my to rest against a tree.

The butler demon watched as if it's entertaining, "This is the second time you've hurt yourself from a fall." He corrected himself, "Though the first time was my doing, you should really be more careful." It started towards me but my body's in no position to gather energy for a light blast. Plus, it wouldn't be effective anyway. He's too strong.

He stopped a foot in front of me and kneeled down, staring at my injured ankle. I moved it away from him by tucking my leg under the other. My ankle argued with pain, but I have to ignore it. Though nothing can't help the situation I'm in, I like to think that  I'm keeping myself out of reach from him. Though I'm not.
