Chapter one-

Can you fall in love with someone you've never met?

He was always there, watching.

Even as a child as I dreamt of a faraway island where the sun never stopped beaming, I'd look up from my imaginary friends and see him standing there, watching.

Or when we jumped from tree to tree, pretending we were monkeys, screaming at the top of my lungs. I'd always fall, but I did it anyway.

He'd always catch me.

As the years flew by he'd always be there even if he was passing through the crowd in a dream.

He never changed, only I began to see him differently.

I would feel his presence next to me in a nightmare. Making me feel safe.

But never in the 16 years and in all of those dreams, has he spoken to me.

The green eyed, mischievous boy.

Called Pan.

"What kind of a place is called storybook?" I huffed as I packed up the last of my things into an already overstuffed box.

"It's called Storybrooke, and trust me you'll love it!" My mom said cheerily as she helped one of the guys from the moving company put another box in the van, her blonde her glimmering in the Californian sun.

"Oh, and you know this how? Some creepy man who you one day randomly realised was your best friend told you so huh?" I loved California, I'd never lived anywhere else and why would I want to? Sun, beaches, boy's, food. I really can't find it's fault.

Scarlett and Alex were waiting outside when everything was packed up. Gosh, I was going to miss them, my two best friends had been there for me since...forever! I ran up to them and bear hugged them both as a tear slipped from my eye and I pulled back to look at them.

"I'm gonna miss you guys so much! You don't even understand, you have each other when I'm gone. I have no one." Their expressions turned from sad to sympathetic.

" Don't worry, we'll call you all the time and I'm sure there will be a karate class there that you can make friends at." Alex said as she smiled up at me. Karate was a big thing for me, I had been doing it since I was 11 and it kept me in good shape, as well as the fact that it was good knowing I could kick people's asses when and whenever I wanted to, although I would never have the confidence to do it.

"Yeah, show them what you've got! You're a black belt!" Scarlett snapped, she was the most amazingly sarcastic person I'd ever met, and I was so glad she was my best friend.

"The belt doesn't mean anything, I can't act superior because of it Scarlie. Oh god, mom's coming, I've got to go, I love you guys so much." And with that I hugged them both again, probably for the last time.

They both ran after the car as my mom drove away, just like they did when we were kids and mom and I went on holiday. The memories brought back tears so I let them fall, I know it's horrible, but I wanted to let my mom see me suffer. She knew I didn't want to move and yet here we are, leaving my hometown and my whole life behind me at the hit of a gas pedal.
