Eleven.
To pretty much everyone it was just a number, a number with no significant importance unless it was a anniversary, a birthday, an appointment. But to Mike Wheeler the word eleven would never be the same again, never would he look at the number without thinking of her.
Mike was led on his bed, deep in thought, he wasnt in the basement like he spent most of his time, he couldnt be down there not alone, not alone. It was all too real, the pain, the numbness and the overwhelming sense of sorrow deeply embedded in his heart. Her final words still echoing in his head."Goodbye, Mike"
He was glad to have will back as the rest of the gang were, the party back together, Will, the quiet honest one who went missing for a week in the hell-like demension of the upside-down, running from the demogorgan, surviving and hiding.
Lucas, loyal to a fault, who cared for his friends, warning him of the bad men who came in force to take away that which they had lost, but which was never theirs in the first place.Dustin, the clown and the lover of food especially pudding, going as far as to believe the lunch lady hiding a stash of it, his greatest aspect being the neutral one in the serious fights, acting as referee and keeping the party together, wanting to use protection at the first sign of overwhelming odds to save his friends.
A silent tear began to run down mikes face as he thought of her.
The Eggo obsessed girl who not only saved will, him and the rest of them from the demogorgan. The Eggo obsessed girl who spoke with her eyes, rather than with her mouth, The Eggo Obsessed girl who unknowingly captured his heart.
Mike started to choke back sobs as he was overwhelmed at what he lost when he only just found the missing piece of him, now gone, maybe forever. How could he go on? to live in the next moment and the moment after that without her? without hearing her incredibly soft voice? bringing her into an embrace as strong as the sun and as deep as the ocean.
it had only happened four hours ago, and mike already felt like he had spent an eternity without her, heartbroken and distraught he hugged his mum for dear life when she found him in the back of an ambulance wrapped in a blanket, he clung to her as reality came crashing round him in a single fell swoop. His father stayed at a distance, talking to the paramedic at only god knows what.
Mike finally started to stop, his breaths becoming shaky, sniffing every once in awhile, his eyes red and puffy, the emotion of the night finally taking its toll on him, he glanced at the clock. 12:04.
Slowly, Mike crawled out of bed, tip toeing down to the basement, he needed to do this, he had to do this he told himself over and over again. Mike approached the basement with trepidation, the D&D board still upside down from when El tried to explain the upside-down to them. The Blanket fort empty, it seemed wrong to mike to see it like that, empty without her, wordlessly he crawled into the fort and halfheartedly wrapped the covers around him.
Her scent was still clung to the covers around him, too tired to cry again, he just lay there letting despair wash over him, taking in the scent like it was the most precious thing on this earth, in a moment of absolute desperation and despair, he prayed to whatever God maybe up there to bring her back, so he could see her half-smile, watch the curiosity on her face, to hug her and never let go, to bring back the other half of his heart. But there was only silence. His shoulders slumped in defeat.
"What is Friend?" She Asked, Confused
"Is she serious?" Lucas asked disbelieving
Dustin shrugged his shoulders in response, not sure what to say.
"Um, A friend is-" Lucas Began
