I sat atop my horse waiting to go into the ring. My older brother and guardian since I was sixteen was watching from the side. "Do good baby sis. I know you got this. Keep showing them what a pro you've became." He told me just before it was my turn to enter.
About halfway through my routine the speakers buzzed making my horse misstep and halfway reared. Then a boom through the speakers sent him for a loop. Even with the best control over my horse I couldn't control him.
He finally reared falling backwards onto his right side and my right leg. Everything was stopped. I could see my brother running out into the ring. He was the first to get to us. He grabbed the front legs of my horse holding him there.
"Relax your leg Zoe." I knew that he'd experience something like this before just didn't know when. I let my leg relax under the antsy horse. I scratched him on his withers while someone took the saddle off. My knee felt like it was being crushed by over a hundred pounds which it was.
Once the saddle was undone someone took the reins and they all helped the horse off me. My brother took the reins from the person and led the horse a short distance away and left him.
He then went back over to me. A paramedic was tending to my leg that was under the horse. "It feels sprained but it could be broken or cracked." He said. I wanted to get back up and restart because whoever was messing with the sound system is at fault.
"Let's get her onto her feet." The same paramedic said. I knew my brother was right behind me as his hands were put under my arms. I put my left leg under me and let him help me stand. A shooting pain went through my right leg.
I winced as I was steadied. My horse walked right over to me. I leaned on his neck as he stood still. He's not dangerous, he just spooked. There's one thing I do know, I can't walk on my right leg. With my brother on one side and my horse on the other I was able to walk out of the ring without needing a stretcher.

I was taken to the hospital a few days later after getting the swelling down. There was a small fracture that I could live with if I let it heal. The only upside is that I'll have a limp. They also said that if I got surgery to repair it then I couldn't ride again for almost a year.Yeah I'd rather have a limp than be out of riding for a year.
