Ch 4 - The Ugly

Hoooo boy, do I have some stories to tell you about the ugly side of fanfiction writing I've experienced. I almost don't know where to begin or how to get my thoughts together, I've so much to say.

First of all, lets go back to the commenters. I'll be specific about comments I've received and ones that I've seen on other stories. I'll also try my best to remain calm, but no promises.

"Your OC can't have the Ten Tailed Demon inside them, it isn't canonically possible."

This is a fanfiction, it's possible.

"Your character can't join Team Seven/ Eight/ Nine/ Ten. Only three Genin to a team or its not canon."

Correct. It's not canon. It's a fanfiction.

"Your character is too overpowered, change it."

First of all, no. Second of all, yeah? So are Sasuke, Itachi and Naruto. Thirdly, not your fanfic so shhhhh.

"Your character is a bitch. I hate her."

Cool. Read on and find out why she's a bitch, or alternatively, get lost.

Yep. All real comments I've received, multiple times and in different words, over the years. There are sooooo many more, but I don't want this book to go on forever. You get the idea. Major butthurt from a few people, over a book.

You know what I do when I don't like something that I've read? I think to myself 'I don't like this' and stop reading. I personally don't feel the need to leave a rude, hurtful, nasty, unhelpful comment that I know is going to upset someone. I also don't feel the need to bitch about it so other people who hate it will join me and then we can wallow around in our hate together for all eternity.

Maybe someone personally doesn't like what you've done with the story, that's totally cool. Not everyone will like it, you gotta respect that. Most people are fine when they don't like something, but some people just have this burning, itching, rashy desire to shit on other people for whatever sad, sad reason they have. The internet is great. Can you hear me rolling my eyes?

Before I go on about the four comments above, let me mention something else people seem to enjoy whining about when it comes to fan fics.

"Your OC is pretty, that's so cliché."

Um, majority of the Naruto girls/ women are pretty? Would you like to read a story about my sad, ugly OC that everyone thinks is ugly and how plants die when she walks past and animals explode when they see her face because of her ugliness?

"Your OC has a demon, that's cliché."

There's a lot of people who previously had and currently have demons inside them. What's the problem if one more person does?

"Your OC is too strong, so cliché."

Ah yes, how dare the character train so they become tough. I'll be sure to tell Naruto, Kakashi, Jiraiya, Lord Third, Orochimaru, Sasuke, Itachi, every member of the Akatsuki and basically every Jonin ever that they're also too strong and need to stop existing. Only weak characters are allowed from now on.

Imagine the fun battles.

"Your OC is too nice, CLICHE!"

How awful, a nice person. Shun them.

"Your OC is too angry, CLICHE!"

They probably have a reason, maybe stop being so angry yourself and find out why?"

"Your OC's parents are dead. How cliché is that?"

Yeah, not many people have dead parents after all. Only important people get to have dead parents.
