I didn't get scared. It wasn't a thing that happened to me, Halloween was just another day, horror movies were just movies, and I found the dark fascinating when I was younger.
My mother called me her little hero, she was afraid of almost everything! Spiders, birds, Friday the 13th, and the ghost that lived in our basement that she continuously told me stories about.
She told me about this school she went to when she was younger. 'Hogwarts' was the name, and 'witchcraft and wizardry' was their game.  There are four houses, my mother is a 'Hufflepuff'. The house of the Loyal, it's a perfect fit for her.

It's the morning I'm departing and I don't think I've ever been more excited in my eleven years of life.

"You'll make so many great friends there Amara. I met Meri there when I was a first year." Dina, my mother told me on the drive there. Meri is her best friend, they have lunch every Wednesday, and dinner every Sunday. Sometimes they tell me stories, like the times they broke into the kitchen. The Hufflepuff common room is right by the kitchen.

"We only have half an hour until the train leaves! Mum we have to hurry!" I ushered her from the passenger seat, she laughed at me.

"Okay okay! Calm down, we're here." I jumped out of the car and yanked my trunk out of the backseat of our buggie.

"C'mon mum, c'mon!" I yanked her hand inside the train station. The ticket read platform 9 and 3/4. But as I stood in between platforms nine and ten, I got lost. For nearly five minutes I paced in between while my mother tried to conceal snickers behind her hand.

"Is this some sort of joke?!" I pleaded the heavens, holding my ticket up to the sky.

"Oh Mar dear, you are too funny. You see that wall?" She came beside me and pointed toward it. I gave her a look.

"Run through it. I know it seems crazy but-" I didn't hear the rest as I closed my eyes, and sprinted toward the wall. I realized I was still running a few seconds later and opened my eyes to a whole new platform.

Wizards ushered their children onto the train, siblings hugged each other goodbye and all I could do was stand there in awe. A few moments later my mum was beside me.

"Jesus Amara, I would figure you'd wait for your poor old mother." She grumbled, taking ahold of my trunk for me and guiding me toward the train.

"This is where you go, oh Amara I promised I wouldn't cry." She covered her face with her hands.

"Don't cry! I'll see you at Christmas, and I'll write to you!" I gave her my best smile. She smiled back, her eyes slightly red.

"Okay, okay. I'm fine, I won't embarrass you I promise." We grinned, I wrapped my arms around her torso and took a deep breath in. The smell of home engulfed me, my nose stinging a bit from her cinnamon shampoo.

"Okay, go! Or you'll be late." She smiled and pushed me toward the door. I stepped on the Scarlett train, dragging my two sizes larger than me trunk, behind me.

I passed full compartments until I came to the second last one on the cart. There were four boys inside, seeming to be laughing at some joke. They looked friendly enough, I decided.

"Excuse me? Would you boys mind if I sit with you?" I asked, closing the door behind me. A boy with sandy hair and kind eyes smiled encouragingly at me, and a blonde-haired chubby boy waved. But the two other boys gave me a suspicious look.

"That depends, do you think the Holy Head Harpies will win this year?" The raven haired boy with crooked glasses asked me, with a confident smirk.

"Not if the Irish win the next match against the Cannons." I gave him a pointed look. The long-haired, blue-eyed boy grinned.

"A girl who knows her sports, pleased to meet your acquaintance. My name is Sirius Black. I enjoy long walks on the beach and my favorite color is blue." He bowed to me over dramatically. I chuckled.

"Hello Sirius, I'm Amara Lux, my favorite color is yellow and I enjoy cliff jumping and hang-gliding." The boys stared at me with puzzling looks on their faces.

"You've been hang-gliding?" The Sandy colored haired boy asked me. I bit my lip.

"Well no, but I imagine I would like it." He grinned.

"Remus Lupin, nice to meet you Amara." I shook his hand politely. The raven boy with the glasses strutted toward me.

"I'm James Potter, and that's my friend Peter Pettigrew. I'm guessing you're a first year too?" I nodded and we all sat down.
