The train was taking off, and so was our third round of the 'Bertie Bots Every Flavoured Bean' challenge. I observed that Remus would rather watch than participate, James is a cheater, Peter can eat anything, and Sirius has awfully bad luck with the whole game.
"Bogies again?!" He shouted, spitting it out into a napkin. I couldn't help the short laugh that came out of my mouth, Sirius turned to me."You think this is funny Lux? This game is obviously rigged!" He crossed his arms.
"Or you're just unlucky." Remus piped in, I nodded in agreement.
"Wanna know what would be unlucky? Getting sorted into Slytherin." James challenged, standing up on his seat.
"The house of the snake!" He jumped at Peter, giving a hiss, Peter squeaked.
"The house of the ambitious" the small boy quoted, James sat back down.
"More like the house of all the slimy sleezbags known to man. You see I, want to be a Gryffindor. Like my father." He beamed proudly, puffing his little chest out.
"I think you'll be a Hufflepuff, house of the weak." Sirius jokes, the boys laughed. I stood up on the spot and put my hands on my hips, trying to seem more intimidating.
"Hufflepuff is the house of the loyal! They are not weak! My mother was a Hufflepuff and she is the strongest person I know, so take that back you dog!" I pointed at Sirius, he put his hands up.
"Okay! Okay! You'd think I offended you." He gave a small smile to lighten up the mood. I couldn't help but smile back, they didn't mean it.
"What house would you like to be in Remus? Or you Peter?" I asked, bouncing on my seat from anticipation.
"I'm not quite sure, Ravenclaw maybe. My father was a Gryffindor, so that's also a possible choice." He grinned, I could totally see him in both houses. We turned to Peter looking for his answer.
"Oh! Me? I think Hufflepuff... but I don't want to be separated from you all! It would be hard to make a whole new group of friends when I've already made some." I grinned at him. He's right, we seem to be getting off alright as a group. It would be a shame if we were all separated.
"Hey! There's the castle!" Remus shouted from beside the window, we all ran up to it. I jumped onto James' back to get a better view.
"Woah." We all said in unison. It was bloody huge! We were gonna live in that?!
"We should probably change into our robes." Peter reminded us. We nodded, I got off James' back and took my robes out of my trunk.
Sirius was taking off his shirt when I covered my eyes and shrieked.
"You trollop! At least wait until the lady leaves!" James joked with him, I stumbled out of the compartment and toward the bathroom.
The bathroom was packed with girls changing, i was about to run into a stall when I came into contact with a small blonde girl.
"Oh bloody hell, I'm sorry!" I stuttered, standing and helping her up. She was really pretty, long blonde hair, bright blue eyes, and a really big smile.
"It's okay, I'm Marlene McKinnon. First year, I just don't want to get in trouble for not being in my robes!" We shook hands, I grinned. Another first year! I'm doing a good job of meeting people. Maybe this will be my Mira.
"I feel the same way, Amara Lux. Also a first year, you can change first, as long as your promise to let me change after you." I winked, she giggled and closed the stall door behind her.
I changed after her and we pushed our way through the girls and EVENTUALLY got out of the bathroom.
"You'd think there was someone famous hiding out in the girl's bathroom!" I gasped out, pretending like the girls suffocated me. Marlene laughed, her laugh was kind of like a bell. It rang beautifully, while my laugh was like... a banshee.
"I'm sure you already have a compartment, so I'll see you at the sorting Amara!" She waved prettily and continued down the train. I walked 30 steps and slipped into my original compartment.
"You were gone an awfully long time." Remus grinned, peering up from his chocolate frog card.
"I was indeed! I met a new friend, Marlene! She's a first year too, very nice girl." I sat beside Sirius, who was struggling to tie his tie.
"Does anyone know how to bloody tie these things?!" He threw his hands up in exasperation. I rolled my eyes, it couldn't be that hard. Just make a few knots.
"Let me try." He turned to gave me, and I grabbed the tie. I started doing random knots in it in, but it wasn't looking right. The other boys were laughing at us, they all had their ties on properly. I did one more and- THIS IS BLOODY HARD!
"Okay, you're going like this I give up." I tied a random knot in his tie, so it hung like a necklace on his neck. He looked down and grinned.
"Good enough for me, thanks Lux." The boys laughed and we made fun of his tie for another two minutes before the train came to a stop. I froze in my seat, this was it.
We were here.
