Rob and I had stayed in that pizza place for about 2 months now, I made sure that he and I saved our food, and didn't eat it all at once. I was about to eat for the first time in 3 days, my stomach was as empty as empty as Rob's brain whenever he used to play video games. I grabbed a bag of beef jerky, and ripped off a small piece of it with my teeth, chewing it was tough, swallowing wasn't much better, the tough texture of the jerky hit my empty stomach like a metal ball, though it hurt, I needed to eat.

For a while, everything had been fine, I had been taking care of the always whining Rob, I kept him under control, it wasn't the greatest, but it was better than nothing. Rob was still asleep, despite it being 1 PM. I looked at Dad's knife, the light from the windows shining on to the knife's blade. I clinched my fist as I remembered hearing the gunshots, if I hadn't hid, things could have been different, I could have saved Mom and Dad, they could have still been with us, and then Rob and I would live a slightly normal life again.

I looked out the window, watching all of the people walking down the street, but one person stuck out, she was walking towards the pizza place. I heard footsteps downstairs, I peeked downstairs, wielding Dad's knife, she looked too young to be a Hunter, but I wouldn't take my chances. She looked older than me, maybe about 12 years old. I tried to make sure she didn't see me, but, she eventually did. She slowly inched her way towards me, it didn't look like she had any form of weapon, but I still had Dad's knife ready just in case she had something hidden.

"W-Who's there?" She asked as she nearly tripped on her own feet. I couldn't take any chances, even if she didn't seem like a threat, I had to make sure that Rob was safe. I felt responsible for him, and everything he did, I didn't even know why I did. The girl was trembling in fear, I would be too, if I had walked into here for the first time, especially with how many cobwebs there were, the first time I arrived into this building was back when Rob and I were 4, and this place was still in business, when the Hunters first came into play. "I-I am no threat, I promise! If anyone is here, please c-come out!" She put her shaking hands into the air, the only way I could get her to leave was to confront her, and talk to her, and make her leave.

I slowly walked outof my hiding spot, my knife still in my hand, she backed up a bit every time I came closer to her, I cautiously put the knife back into it's cover, to show that I meant no harm to her. She slowly walked over to me.

"What is your name, and why are you here?" I asked, ready to pull out Dad's knife at any moment. She was slightly sweating, I was guessing she was nervous.

"I-I'm Kaitlyn. I need a place to hide, but I heard footsteps upstairs." Kaitlyn said, she claimed she needed to hide, but I still couldn't trust her. "Please, can I stay here, I have no where to go to."

"Why do you need to hide?" I asked.

"My mom is a hunter, and my dad got a call from her, saying that she was coming for us, so he told me to run as far as I could, he is probably dead by now. The Hunters already took my grandfather, and grandmother but left my dad and I." She explained.

"What wounds were your grandparents left with?" I asked, I had to make sure that she the gunshots were the same.

"Two gunshot wounds, one in the heart, and the other in the head." She said, I decided she was safe, but I had her clear her pockets before I let her upstairs. Kaitlyn and I walked up the stairs, but I still kept an eye on her, and wouldn't let her near Rob. I walked over to Rob, and woke him up.

"Rob, there is someone here, but you need to stay calm. She is trying to hide, like us, but I'm not sure I can trust her yet. Just stay calm." I whispered to him, making sure Kaitlyn didn't hear me. Rob slowly got up, clinging to the bracelet Mom gave him.

"Now, I just have one more question for you." I said. "How do we know that we can trust you?"

"Well, you're the one with the knife, and we have the same goals, hiding. But I know that it will be hard for you to trust a stranger, and that is why I don't particularily trust you currently, either." Kaitlyn said, she had a few points, but the points weren't great ones.

The following night, Kaitlyn and Rob were asleep, but I sat, awake, making sure that the new girl wasn't dangerous.
