I walked into the band room and went back again to get my trumpet. I grabbed my music again. Then I went and sat down in my chair. I was "first chair" in Concert Band. I mean if you want to consider it that. I was technically just seventh chair in Symphonic Band but I still got solos and I played first part. The tuba players sat next to us. By "us" I mean me. I'm always getting hit by a tuba or bumping into Ace's stand. He always pulls it up right beside him. Well all the tuba players do that but he has it so he could just lean forward a little and he could bump his head into it. And because of the way that you hold a tuba they have to put their stands on by their sides.
The other trumpet players in my section were spared of this. Good thing Ace and I were friends or I would have lost it on him for hitting me so many times with his tuba when he was setting it down. Ace already had his tuba out by his seat and he was just up talking to people around the band room. I didn't pay much attention to him though. We weren't that good of friends. We knew each other, but not personally. Then I saw Leon warming up across the room.
I looked at him for a good five seconds, then I looked down and sighed. I shrugged it off though, and started to look at my music. I started going through some fingerings and then when I was about to start playing Willow ran up to me.
"Hazel!" she exclaimed.
"What?" I asked, curiously.
"You need to come here. Quick!" she said, as she ushered me out of my seat. I kept my trumpet in my hand and started to follow her.
"What's wrong?" I asked, concerned.
"It's Eve and Kane." she stated.
"What about Eve and Kane?" I asked. I stopped. Willow gave me an aggravated look. "What's going on?"
"They're fighting." she said.
"Like physically or verbally?"
"When I saw it was just verbal, but they were really getting upset at each other." she said. When she said that I knew I needed to get there quick.
"Where are they?" I questioned her. She didn't answer she just motioned for me to follow her. She had picked up speed now. Something was seriously wrong. Willow eventually stopped outside the choir room. Around the corner, past the choir room, I could hear shouting. "What are they fighting about?"
"Kane things that Eve is cheating on him." Willow said, quietly. I shook my head, wondering if I should interfere or let them sort things out. Then I heard Kane shout.
"I TRIED TO BE ALL YOU WANTED, BUT APPARENTLY YOU STILL WENT BEHIND MY BACK!"
"I DIDN'T DO ANY SUCH THING! WE'RE JUST FRIENDS! I WENT TO HIS HOUSE FOR A PROJECT! WHY DON'T YOU TRUST ME?! WHAT REASON DO YOU HAVE TO NOT BELIEVE ME?" Eve shouted back. I wanted to help, but the thing is... I didn't know how.
"Hmm... well lets' see. You have a very long list a past boyfriends, quite a few that claim that you were either too clingy, too into other guys, or too distant! You have NEVER been that clingy so I think it's safe to assume that you either have your eyes on someone else or you just don't feel the same way about me as I feel about you!" Kane spat. Willow and I were still around the corner and we looked each other. She had the same helpless look on her face that I did. Then I had an idea. I'm not sure if it will be the best idea but it's better than sitting there doing nothing.
I grabbed Willow and whispered to her, "Okay, so I'm going to side with Kane and you side with Eve. We can start out arguing but then we can come to a understanding and hopefully if we come to an understanding about it then they will follow our lead. At least I hope that's how psychology works..." I trailed off. Willow nodded, then we started walking around the corner.
"...NEVER CHEATED ON YOU!" Eve shouted as we came around the corner.
"What's going on?" I asked.
