"Oh... my... lord... I can't today!" Jasmine groaned as Mrs. Wilson handed out a pop quiz. Mrs. Wilson looked over as I tilted my head back and let out a loud groan along with Jasmine. She glared at us and then turned away and started back towards her desk. We both laughed. Mrs. Wilson whipped her head around.
"Quiet!" she shouted at us. Of course Jasmine and I knew that she wouldn't do anything. She was all bark and no bite. Jasmine and I were good students but Mrs. Wilson was awful. She always talked about how everyone was failing her class and how we should be doing better, but more than 80% of her students had either an A or a B in her class. She sucked at teaching, but she taught chemistry. It was a pretty easy class for Jasmine and I because we had always been interested in this stuff.
After Chemistry was over Jasmine went to choir and I went to band. I grabbed my trumpet case got it out and pulled out our music. Kane and I played the same part so we just shared a stand and music. Willow, Eve, Belle, and Leon were all in band too. Willow played the piccolo, Eve played the saxophone, Belle played clarinet, and Leon played the trombone. There was also Ace, he was a "doubler" like Eve, Willow, and I. Which mean we play in Symphonic and Concert band. He played Tuba though. After a moment when things settled down and everyone had had enough time to get their instruments out Mr. Watson stepped up on the podium and instructed us to be quiet and put our instruments in playing position. He raised up his baton.
After we had finished with Symphonic Band we had lunch. I sat with Willow, Jasmine, Eve, Ace, Hugh, Rose, and Xavier. So here's the run down. Eve was with Kane. Rose and Xavier were practically a thing. Ace had been between relationships. Jasmine was with Vincent, who sat at the table next to ours. Then there was Willow and I, all alone. We were the single ones who gave great relationship advice. We would always say, "We be so good, yet so single." Then we would laugh. We tried to hook each other up but none of the guys I pointed out to Willow were her type, as she said, and I honestly had never really gotten over Leon. We barely talked. We barely knew each other, but I still really liked him.
"Oh! You guys have a pop quiz today in Mrs. Wilsons' class too." Jasmine told Xavier, Rose, and Ace.
"Not again!!" Ace exclaimed. Jasmine and I continued and told everyone what it was over. It didn't seem like Xavier and Rose were really listening though. I'll talk to Rose later. If I ask now it could take a turn for the worse.
"You okay, Rose? You don't seem in it today." Jasmine said. I glared at her and she gave me a look like What?!
"It's nothing, I'm just tired. I was up late last night." Rose said. Xavier looked up suddenly. His gaze sharp as a knife. He looked at Rose.
"Nothing? Of course nothing's wrong! Nothing's ever wrong! You just think that you're going to get whatever you want no matter how you act! Don't you?" Xavier spat at Rose.
"I never said anything like that..." Rose sheepishly said.
"You thought it though, didn't you? You think you can flirt with any guy even though you already have a boyfriend and worse, do it behind my back!!" he shouted. I wanted to quiet them down because people from other tables were looking our way, but I didn't know what the conflict was so I didn't want to risk making things worse.
"I did no such thing!" Rose countered, "I wasn't flirting with him! He's a friend! Just like you have girl friends! You always blow things out of proportion!!" Rose yelled back. The two glared at each other. You could tell they were really about to get at it. Then the bell rang.
No one moved for a minute after the bell rang. We all just sat there in a tense silence. Then Xavier stood up and left. Ace and Hugh followed shortly after. Then Rose and the rest of us got up. We all walked down the hall in an awkward silence until we had to split up, Rose and Jasmine went to choir while Willow, Eve, and I went to Concert Band. Hopefully Concert Band will be a little more laid back than that...
