When I was a little boy, I am most interested in the arts of magic as they are fascinating to watch and quite fun to do. Mastering tricks take lots of my free time and sometimes it gets frustrating when I'm having a hard time mastering it. Once I mastered the tricks, the real fun begins as I often show off my skills to my friends and relatives just to be one of the cool kids in class as they all shouted with their jaw wide open "Oh my God John! How did you do that?"
I completely stop doing magic tricks when I turn 11 and because by that age, parents would already be asking seriously of what my ambition is and I come to realize that doing fake magic tricks is not going to give me big cash to support my parents and my own family in the future. "Hey John, why not become a doctor? Doctors are respected for their intelligence and their capabilities to save people's life. You can make lots of that 'Cha Ching' too you know?" Asked my mother will full of hope. "No. I do not want to be a doctor. And can you stop being a typical asian mom? You're Australian by the way." Replied by me with full of laughter. It is normal for a parent to have a dream of their own kids to be successful. Who doesn't want to have a successful and wealthy kids? My dad is different. He told me to the things I love and I like so then I asked him "What about video games?" "Uhhh... I don't know... why don't you ask mom" By that point I knew he is trying to take back his words and even if I ask mom, she is going to beat me up if I mention anything about ambitions with video games. Nice try dad, but I'm not gonna get my butt whooped... at least not for today.
I spend most of my life studying but not as much as the nerds who are always comes to school very early just to sit at the most front row. I just don't really get it why people like these exist. It's as if they have some kind of super powers to make them not bored as the teacher is explaining for hours that feels like eternity.
I was transferred to another school when I reach grade 3. The school was quite big and there are thousands of educators. We started on a science event on the beginning of the school year and I'm already starting to internally screaming. Why you wonder? I got no friends, I suck at science and I have no clue where to start.
Days later I was introduced to a friend by my parents. His name is Cliffert, same age and he is about an inch taller than me. He goes to the same school as I did and we both agreed to ditch Cliffert's current science team just to join mine. He came to me as if it was a gift from an angel to save me from my doom in my science project. I feel bad for cliffert's old team but I need to pass as well. School is not for having fun, it's a war to pass or to fail.
We got 30 days to finish the project and Cliffert doesn't like common ideas like making an erupting volcano by using Coca - cola and Mentos. He prefers to make something outstanding and extraordinary such as robots and moving tanks. In the end, we both did well, we end up making robots and passed. We both got the girl's attention and the boy's jealousy after passing with an A even if Cliffert did 75% of the robot. At that point I knew Cliffert and I will be a close friend.
After Cliffert and I turn 18, it was crystal clear that both of our ambition is to become the greatest researcher that
could change the world to a better one. It was a big ambition but nothing is bigger than our desires to become one.Author's Note
Chatper one is going to be short because it's only the intro of the story. The next chapter is more likely to be longer.
