Niall and Liam had reached the pool; it really wasn’t different from his dream. It was really dark in here, only one light hung above the giant 10 foot deep pool and the entire floor of the pool was one big light. The hot tub had colored lights on the floor in it, red and blue, making the steam and bubbles turn a lovely violet. Liam was taken aback by the purple hot tub and quickly climbed in it, waving at Niall to join him. The blonde made a shy face as he pulled the towel from his shoulders and walked over to the tub, climbing in and sitting across from Liam. “Why are you sitting so far away?” Liam asked, tilting his head. Niall only retorted, “Why are you sitting so far away?” Making Liam roll his eyes.
Liam scoot closer to Niall, their, now sweaty from the steam, shoulders touching. Niall blushed slightly, he was three inches shorter than Liam, wasn’t much of a height difference, but it was still noticeable. This dilemma made Niall have to look up at Liam. “Say, Niall… I want to get to know you better. Tell me about your family. And maybe your love life?” Liam smirked.
Niall sighed softly, smiling as he thought about his mother, step-father, father, and his brother. “Maura and Bobby, my mother and father got divorced when I was five. She remarried to a man named Chris and moved to England. I ended up staying in Ireland with my father. It just seemed easier than way. My brother Greg is like my best friend. He always accepts my choices no matter how drastic they may be. His girlfriend, Denise, is just delightful. She’s gorgeous and very smart.” Liam listened to what Niall had to say, smiling warmly at him. “And your love life?” Liam questioned after a moment of silence. “Ah… well, I was dating this girl named Holly before the X-Factor. But I broke up with her to focus on my career. Honestly, I’ve been wanting to date again. To have someone close… but…” Niall paused, sighing deeply. “But what?” Liam asked, furrowing his brows. “…but I don’t think I’d like the company of a woman.”
That was the easiest way to say he was gay, wasn’t it? Liam’s eyes widened, “Niall… you’re gay?” The blonde frowned, “Saying it so bluntly is annoying.” The other calmed down, “I apologize.” Niall shook his head, smiling up at him, but it soon disappeared. “Do you want to stop being my friend then?” Niall asked, his blue eyes looked hopeful that he’d say no. Liam chuckled, “Niall, you could change your sex for all I care, and you’d still be my best friend.”
Ouch. Did he just get friendzoned?
Niall forced a fake smile, hugging Liam’s bare body. Liam, of course, never felt awkward and hugged back. Niall was like a brother to him… well… he had thought. With this new information, Liam had a sudden thought of him and Niall kissing sloppily and passionately in the hot tub instead. He felt his swimming trunks growing a bit tight, quickly pulling from the blonde. ‘I’m not gay…’ Liam thought. ‘Maybe it’s just Niall?’ Liam sighed, biting his lip softly. He couldn’t be gay. Not even for Niall. He had had plenty of girlfriends. Hell, he lost his virginity at fourteen!
“Also, I have something to confess. But I’ll tell you at a better time.” Niall blurted out, looking up at Liam. He just nodded, standing out of the violet water and getting out, holding his hand to help Niall out. “We both jump in the pool on three. Ready?” Liam smirked, and Niall nodded, “Ready.” Liam counted, “One… two… thr—“ Before he got the full word out, Niall ran towards the pull, submersing himself in the cool water. Letting out a loud, “Whoo!” when came back up. Of course, since they had been the hot tub, the water felt colder than normal. But that didn’t stop them. Liam jumped in after Niall, tackling the blonde back down under the water. Both of them choking but laughing as they came up. They were in the deep end, so Liam wrapped his arms around Niall to make sure they’d stay floating in the nine-foot-deep water.
Niall liked this of course, having a shy but happy smile on his face, the blue eyes looking up at Liam’s brown eyes. Liam had this smug look like this was nothing, when really Liam’s heart was beating hard and fast against his chest. He swore he could hear it… ba-dum-ba-dum-ba-dum… Liam swam them over to the edge, letting go of Niall when they both latched onto the edge of the pool wall. “Mmm… I’m getting sleepy, Leeeyyuummm.” He whined, his blue eyes blood-shot from the chlorine. Liam wiped a droplet of water from under Niall’s eye, smiling, “Let’s go back up to the room then. I brought Toy Story one and two.” Niall grinned like an idiot, “Perfect.”
When they had gotten back to the hotel, showered, dried off, and dressed Niall curled into the one king sized bed. Liam put the first Toy Story in and came to join the blonde. “Nialler, you had something to confess?” Liam brought up. Niall blushed darkly, looking at the brunette, as if he was hoping Liam had forgotten. “Come on, Ni.. I’m curious. Plus, this past hour was very bonding for us.” Niall sighed, smiling as he rolled his eyes. Sitting up, he wrapped a small throw blanket around his shoulders, “This is really hard for me to say, I hope you know.” Liam nodded, letting a hand move onto Niall’s thigh in ‘calming’ manner, Niall just gulped. This wasn’t making it any easier.
“Come on, mate.” Liam said, “I can take it. It can’t possibly be that bad.”
That was the thing, it was that bad. “Okay. Here it is…” Niall gripped the bed sheets, “I… like…” He paused, “y…o…u…”
It took Liam a moment before he turned bright red, “Me?” The brunette replied.
“Who else, dumbass?!” Niall grabbed a pillow and hit Liam over the head with it. Liam just laughed, lightening the mood just a bit. The British lad grabbed the pillow and took it away from Niall, pinning him to the bed. “You know, you’re never going to live this down, right, Nialler?” The blonde just scoffed, blushing slightly as he stared up at Liam. “As long as I get something in return for every time you make fun of me.”
“How about a kiss?” Liam teased. Niall growled and rolled the other off him, “You’re an ass, Payne.”
They—Liam stayed up watching Toy Story, Niall had eventually passed out. That’s when Liam started to softly sing one of his solos, “Wake up, we both need to wake up…” Ironically enough, Niall began to wake up, hearing that sweet voice, “…Maybe if we face up to this we can make it through this. Closer, maybe we'll be closer, stronger than we were before, yeah. Make this something more, yeah…”
Niall’s heart raced, hearing the words. He knew it was just his solo from ‘Same Mistakes,’ but the fact it sounded like he was singing it more to Niall than just to himself than anything. The blue eyed turned to face Liam, his eyes closed. “Li..” Niall whispered.
“Oh!” Liam blushed, “I thought you were asleep! I apologize if I woke—” Niall cut off Liam by planting a tired, sloppy yet passionate kiss to his lips. Liam didn’t even act shocked, he quickly pushed Niall onto his back, climbing on top of him to kiss him deeply. The Irish boy felt chills go up his spine, his hands running through Liam’s brown curls, pulling on them to make sure this was real. After a few moments of sweet kissing, Liam pulled back quickly, moving to sit on the edge of the bed. “Niall, I am so sorry.”
Niall sat up, moving behind Liam to rub his shoulders. “Don’t be sorry, I started it… and frankly, I liked it.” The blonde moved to kiss Liam’s neck, “Come back to bed.”
Liam nodded, Niall pulling back to climb under the covers, the brunette snuggling close. “What does this mean, Liam?”
“I… haven’t exactly figured it out yet… I think I like you. Quite honestly, I want you. But, what would the boys think?”
Niall sighed, “Let’s sleep on it.”
