•Chapter Nine•
I could barely keep my eyes open. His footsteps raced out the room. Blurry images surrounded me.
Am I dead? No I can still feel the pain.
It felt like a bad memory. It was unforgivable and unforgettable. It was hard to breathe. I wanted to die, to be free of pain.
"Jamie." I heard faintly. I nodded, not knowing what was going on.
"Everything's going to be okay. " the voice said.
In the distance, I heard a man scream and a gunshot. The scream slowly died.
A blurry image of a tall, thin man, untied my hands and ankles. I tried to stand up, but my knees buckled and I fell to the ground. The man helped me stand up, giving me support while I walked down the hall.
I couldn't see anything. Darkness filled my vision.
"I can't. " I whispered, falling to the ground.
"Jamie. C'mon. The hospital isn't very far." The man said to me.
I shook my head, knowing that I'm going to die.
The man carried me out the door, and into an ambulance. I laid down in a bed in the back of the car. I could hear the sirens and feel the bumps of the road. I leaned my head back, taking deep breathes.
"Jamie. Can you hear me?" A lady said and I nodded.
"Can you see me?" I shook my head.
As the ambulance stopped at the hospital, the lady helped me out of the car. Walking through the doors, everything felt like it was ending.
I'm dying.
